Review and support damage caused by storms and floods to Ngoc Linh ginseng growing areas

On July 28, Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee issued an official dispatch requesting review and support for damage caused by storms and floods to Ngoc Linh ginseng growing areas.

Accordingly, in recent times, in the province, including communes growing Ngoc Linh ginseng, there has been prolonged heavy rain, causing serious damage to crops and production of people. According to the information reflected, nearly 4,000 Ngoc Linh ginseng roots of people and businesses were broken and damaged.

Leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Council of Quang Ngai province inspected the situation of Ngoc Linh ginseng in Mang Ri commune.

To help people minimize damage caused by storms, the Standing Committee of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee assigned the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to lead the Provincial People's Committee to direct relevant departments, branches and localities to urgently review and fully count the damage caused by storms to Ngoc Linh ginseng growers in the province.

On that basis, there are timely and effective support plans, suitable to actual conditions, to help people overcome the consequences and soon stabilize production. At the same time, instructions are given on implementing measures to respond to natural disasters and sustainably protect Ngoc Linh ginseng growing areas in the coming time.

According to the People's Committee of Mang Ri commune, from July 20 to 25, Mang Ri commune had moderate rain, sometimes very heavy rain and strong winds, causing damage to local people, especially Ngoc Linh ginseng. Of which, 4,200 ginseng plants were from 1-5 years old, 264 plants were from 5 years old and up, with an estimated damage of more than 2 billion VND. This is the main source of income for many Xo Dang households, and is expected to be a crop that helps people escape poverty sustainably.
