Samsung is the leader in providing super 'high-end' screens, Galaxy S24 Ultra is still full of errors

VTC NewsVTC News27/02/2024

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone - an update that almost retains the design of the previous two generations, the Galaxy S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra - still attracts users' attention thanks to advertisements about AI (integrated artificial intelligence) features. The S24 is one of the most high-end Android smartphones launched this year.

However, the device quickly ran into display issues, despite using a Samsung-made panel. According to Android Police , there were multiple cases of users experiencing screen "fading" and later reports said Samsung was tweaking the color vibrancy slider to address the issue. But that's not the only annoying thing about the device's display.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra's display doesn't live up to early owners' expectations.

Accordingly, users also reported that the Galaxy S24 series screen has uneven color spots. This phenomenon is especially obvious when viewed on gray and black background screens. On the Reddit forum, there are many reports from users and in a general opinion collection post, there were over 350 responses from most Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus users experiencing this problem.

A Reddit user put his Galaxy S24 Ultra under a 400x OM microscope and found that the subpixels' intensity was uneven at 10% brightness, improved at 30%, and by 50% brightness it was almost non-existent.

It’s clear that this is a hardware issue. Some customers have been able to get replacements after reporting the issue to the warranty service. Others have been denied.

The average user's eyes can hardly notice the uneven color spots on the Galaxy S24 series screen without looking closely, but it will be difficult to accept spending tens of millions of dong and still having to experience that incompleteness.

In addition, screen stripes seem to have become an inherent obsession when it comes to Samsung screens, and this is no exception with the S24 series. In just a short time of use, there have been the first reports of blue screen stripes on this product line. Others said they saw many color bands when viewing color-changing images. Unlike the color spots, screen stripes currently only appear on a small number of devices and it is not possible to determine whether this is a hardware or software problem.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra's commendable feature is its anti-reflective capabilities. However, it is also controversial because in some cases it reduces contrast and makes colors worse than previous Ultra generations.

Not only the screen, Mashable also pointed out the problem with the Galaxy S24 Ultra's camera. Samsung's flagship model is equipped with a cluster of 4 cameras on the back, including a 12 MP ultra-wide lens, a 200 MP wide-angle camera, a 5X optical zoom telephoto sensor with a resolution of 50 MP and another 10 MP telephoto sensor supporting 3X optical zoom. When switching between lenses, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a "jumping" phenomenon.

The account @smasithick shared on page X (formerly Twitter) that he brought the device to Samsung's service center and was told "the manager here is also aware of this problem affecting the first batch of devices manufactured in India". However, the device is still sold to users. Samsung suggested replacing @smasithick with a new device, but in the latest update, he said the company is preparing to release an update to fix the problem.

" I received a call from the manager of Samsung India asking me to delete the post on X. I refused to delete anything related to it," he revealed in his tweet. He also spoke up to ask Samsung to have a receptive attitude when there is a problem and come up with a solution, and asking users to delete posts is irresponsible.
