Ms. Tran Thi Be - Director of Tran Lam Gia Phat One Member Co., Ltd. (353/12 Truong Chinh, Pleiku City) said: After 6 years of operating in the field of processing fresh sausage products, the Company has 5 products certified with 3-star OCOP including: chicken sausage with basil leaves, striped pork sausage, Bien Ho shrimp sausage, smoked chicken and handmade ham.
“To have OCOP certified products, the Company strictly controls from input materials to output products. Accordingly, we invest in building farms to raise striped pigs and chickens; do not use stimulants or growth promoters in animal husbandry. As for shrimp raw materials, we purchase them from households that naturally catch them in Bien Ho.
Along with that, the Company invested in a system of processing machines and freezers, and during the processing, no additives or preservatives were used," said Ms. Be.
According to Ms. Be, since being certified as a 3-star OCOP product, the amount of products sold on the market has increased by 50-60% compared to before. Accordingly, from January to September of the lunar calendar, the Company sells about 1 ton of products/month. Particularly from October of the lunar calendar until now, the Company has sold 2-3 tons of products/month. After deducting expenses, the Company has a profit of 300-400 million VND. Thanks to that, the Company creates regular jobs for 15 workers with a salary of 6-8 million VND/person/month.
“In addition to the products that have been certified with 3-star OCOP, we are processing fresh sausages from beef using the above processing procedure. In the future, the Company will continue to develop 3-star OCOP products for this fresh sausage product made from beef” - Ms. Be plans.
In 2023, Vo Thi Thach business household (Huy Hoang village, Ia Rsươm commune, Krong Pa district) also had 5 products certified with 3-star OCOP, including 4 products from livestock farming such as: Ngoc Thach 1-sun-dried beef, Ngoc Thach 1-sun-dried striped pork, Ngoc Thach beef jerky pieces and Ngoc Thach beef jerky fibers.
According to Ms. Thach, in order for the products to be OCOP certified, her family cooperates with households raising grass-fed beef and striped pork in a safe way. For the 1-sun-dried beef and striped pork products, she invested in an automatic drying rack with a height of over 8 m to ensure temperature as well as avoid dust. For the dried beef pieces and dried beef strips, she invested in a drying system.
“Thanks to the OCOP certification, the family's products sell more. Each month, the family sells about 300kg of all products, earning a profit of 20-30 million VND/month. Hopefully, during the Lunar New Year 2025, the facility will have a better increase in product volume compared to previous years,” said Ms. Thach.
Meanwhile, Ms. Do Thi Phuong's family (Dai An 2 village, Ia Khuol commune, Chu Pah district) has also expanded its consumption market since its raw bird's nest products were certified with 3-star OCOP.
Ms. Phuong excitedly said: “From 2022 until now, I have collected 25-30 kg of raw bird's nest products/year. This year, in addition to selling raw bird's nest, my family also processes it into products such as: fresh bird's nest in jars, baby bird's nest balls, dry plucked bird's nest... Thanks to the trust of customers, my family does not worry about product output and also has significant profits."
Talking to reporters, Mr. Tran Van Van - Deputy Chief of the New Rural Coordination Office (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) said: The whole province has 430 OCOP products, including 128 products from livestock (cow, pig, chicken, bird's nest and honey).
After being certified as OCOP products, many products originating from livestock are chosen by the subjects to invest in improving quality, diversifying designs, and ensuring food hygiene and safety. At the same time, actively participating in investment promotion programs organized by departments, branches and sectors.
“Building OCOP products opens up many opportunities, brings economic efficiency, helps to increase product value, and increases competitiveness in the market. With existing potential and strengths, along with strongly promoting innovation and application of science and technology, OCOP products in general, and OCOP products from livestock in particular, are expected to develop strongly in the coming time,” Mr. Van affirmed.
