On the morning of January 16, 100 defendants who attacked the headquarters of Ea Ktur and Ea Tieu communes, causing 9 deaths, were tried in a mobile trial, of which 6 were absent and are wanted.

53 defendants were tried for the crime of terrorism against the people's government ; 45 people were prosecuted for terrorism (including 6 people who are abroad); one person was accused of harboring criminals and one person of organizing and brokering for others to illegally exit, enter or stay in Vietnam.

These are the people who attacked the headquarters of Ea Ktur and Ea Tieu communes, Cu Kuin district, on the night of June 10 and early morning of June 11, 2023. They divided into two groups, murdered the Secretary of Ea Ktur commune, the Chairman of Ea Tieu commune, 4 police officers and 3 civilians; injured 2 police officers and many others.

The trial is expected to last 10 days, with strict security measures in place.

The investigation agency determined that among the defendants were many ethnic minorities in Dak Lak province, who were incited, lured, and enticed to join the reactionary organization by a reactionary group exiled in the US, such as: Y Mut Mlo, Y But Eban, Y Nie Eya, Y Ciu Nie, Y Chanh Byă, and Y Quynh Bdap (who is being wanted). Afterwards, key members in the country, following the direction of the group abroad, continued to lure, threaten, and force a number of other ethnic minorities to form an armed group called "Dega Soldiers" to carry out terrorist and sabotage activities.

The case is considered particularly serious, infringing on the lives and health of officials and people, destroying property of agencies, organizations and individuals in the province, with the aim of overthrowing the people's government to establish the so-called "Dega State".

During the investigation, the defendants admitted that due to backwardness, lack of knowledge or being threatened, they participated in criminal activities. They expressed remorse and asked for leniency and reduced sentences.

After the verdict, Dak Lak Provincial People's Court will coordinate with domestic and foreign authorities to transfer 6 internationally wanted people to Vietnam to serve their sentences.
