A joint working group will be established to handle violations of television copyright.

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Van Uy, Chairman of the Vietnam Pay TV Association, said that copyright infringement of television mainly occurs in sports tournaments such as the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, French Ligue 1 and European championships such as Cup C1, C2, C3.

Faced with the current situation of serious copyright infringement of football tournaments, such as the case of the 'xoi lac' website system, the Vietnam Pay TV Association hopes that the Ministry of Information and Communications and network operators will increase blocking of access to domain names and IP addresses of copyright-infringing websites.

The Association recommends that the Ministry of Information and Communications take the lead and coordinate the implementation of necessary technical solutions to prevent Vietnamese audiences from searching for and accessing the websites of illegal betting companies.

The Association also proposed that the Ministry of Information and Communications amend current regulations to allow broadcasting units to be exempted from liability for the appearance of images, names, brands, and websites of betting companies available in the relay signals from abroad.

In response to the recommendations of the Vietnam Pay TV Association, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Duc Long gave many directions to remove difficulties and obstacles.

Regarding copyright infringement in cyberspace, the Deputy Minister suggested that the Association coordinate with businesses to create a complete list of records on television programs and related copyright holders. This will be the basis for handling violations. Therefore, the Vietnam Pay TV Association will be responsible for verifying this list.

The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (PTTH&TTĐT) - Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Pay TV Association will establish a joint working group. When detecting copyright violations, units can send recommendations to the Association, from there transfer to the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information to coordinate with network operators to handle.

The Ministry of Information and Communications is also proposing to amend the Advertising Law in the direction of exempting responsibility when broadcasting in certain areas. Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long asked units that buy television copyrights to proactively review websites and companies that sponsor sports programs related to betting and gambling, and report to the Ministry of Information and Communications for proactive prevention.
