The Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) has recently announced a list of additional securities that are not eligible for margin trading. Accordingly, MCM shares of Moc Chau Dairy Cattle Breeding Joint Stock Company have their margin cut due to the listing period of less than 6 months. Previously, these 110 million shares were transferred from UPCoM to HoSE and had their first trading session on June 25.

Similarly, on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX), the list of stocks that will have their margin trading services cut in the second quarter of 2024 also reached nearly 70 codes. Among them are some notable names such as AMV, APS, NRC, TAR, LDP, HTP, etc.

It is estimated that by the end of the first quarter of 2024, the outstanding margin loan balance will reach about VND 190,000 billion, an increase of nearly 64% over the same period in 2023. This is also a record high margin loan balance in the stock market. The scale and amount of margin loans have increased as most securities companies have continuously increased their charter capital in recent times. According to regulations, the total outstanding margin loan balance of a securities company must not exceed 200% of its equity.
