Son La Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs received and worked with a delegation from the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)

With the permission of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, on the afternoon of June 24, 2025, the Department of Foreign Affairs had a working session with the delegation of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Vietnam.

Comrade Nguyen Van May - Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs chaired the working session with the Delegation, also attending were representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs' professional departments.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Nguyen Van May acknowledged the positive and effective contributions from programs and projects in Son La province sponsored by ILRI; ILRI is also one of the organizations that have complied well with the provisions of Vietnamese law and regulations of Son La province; the Department of Foreign Affairs and related agencies and units have and will continue to accompany ILRI in the project implementation process, promptly resolving problems.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

At the meeting, Mr. Fred Unger - ILRI Representative in Asia, International Livestock Research Institute Office in Vietnam highly appreciated and expressed his gratitude for the attention and facilitation of the leaders of Son La province and the effective support of the Department of Foreign Affairs as well as relevant agencies and units of Son La province for ILRI to effectively implement projects. At the meeting , the ILRI delegation introduced the project "Sustainable food systems for livestock and aquaculture" expected to be implemented in Son La province in the coming time, and also expressed the hope that the competent authorities of the province will continue to pay attention and support ILRI in the implementation of programs and projects.

ILRI was established in 1994 through the merger of the International Laboratory for Animal Disease Research (ILRAD, Kenya) and the International Livestock Center for Africa (ILCA, Ethiopia); ILRI is a research center under CGIAR, with the mission of conducting research to enhance the role of livestock in sustainable agricultural production systems around the world. ILRI registered to operate in Son La province from 2020 with research projects in the field of livestock ./.
