Department of Health holds urgent meeting to prepare for storm No. 11

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 11 (Matmo), which is forecast to be of strong intensity and directly affect the Northern region, on the morning of October 6, 2025, the Cao Bang Provincial Department of Health held an urgent meeting to deploy proactive response measures, ensuring safety for people and medical facilities in the area. Attending the meeting were leaders of the Provincial General Hospital, the Provincial Center for Disease Control, the Cao Bang Medical Center, leaders of specialized and professional departments under the Department and related officials. Comrade Nong Tuan Phong - Director of the Department of Health chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Health thoroughly grasped the direction of the Prime Minister in Official Dispatch No. 186/CD-TTg dated October 4, 2025 and Official Dispatch No. 25/CD-UBND of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Bang province on proactively responding to storm No. 11. Accordingly, the Department requested the entire health sector to heighten vigilance and prepare thoroughly according to the motto "four on-site" (on-site command, on-site forces, on-site means, on-site logistics), absolutely not to be passive or surprised when the storm makes landfall.

The Director of the Department of Health directs medical examination and treatment facilities, especially the Provincial General Hospital, Medical Centers, and Commune and Ward Health Stations to closely monitor the storm's developments through meteorological bulletins to proactively develop early and remote prevention and control plans; review and consolidate facilities, electricity, water, medicine and medical supplies systems; arrange for professional and emergency staff to be on duty 24/7, ready to admit and provide emergency care to people injured by storms and floods; ensure the safety of inpatients and property in areas at risk of flooding and landslides; proactively evacuate when necessary; study the establishment of mobile teams to proactively respond to emergency situations.

The Provincial Center for Disease Control coordinates with local Health Centers and Health Stations to prepare chemicals, vehicles, and equipment for water treatment and environmental sanitation to be ready for emergency response and disease prevention after the storm, especially diseases that are likely to arise such as diarrhea, dengue fever, and respiratory diseases. Proactively check the quality of domestic water and tap water to ensure safe use before, during, and after the storm.

The Department of Professional Affairs, Planning - Finance, and Personnel Organization are assigned to monitor, urge, synthesize the situation, advise the Department's leaders to promptly direct, and coordinate with local authorities and functional branches to effectively implement storm prevention and control work, ensuring people's health.

Concluding the meeting, Director of the Department of Health Nong Tuan Phong emphasized: Units in the sector need to promote the maximum sense of responsibility, proactively respond to storm No. 11, considering this an urgent task, closely linked to the work of protecting the health and lives of the people. All forces and equipment must be prepared, ensuring that the Cao Bang Health sector is not passive in any natural disaster situation.

He requested the subordinate units to seriously implement the contents of prevention, control and response to storm No. 11 according to the direction of the Central and the province, and regularly report the situation to the Department for synthesis and reporting to the Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Health .
