On May 21, 2025, the National Assembly's Committee for People's Aspirations and Supervision forwarded the petition of voters of Quang Nam province (now Da Nang city) to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism regarding early attention to investing in the conservation and restoration of Dong Duong Buddhist Institute relic.
Responding to the above issue, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that on July 17, 2025, the Government issued Decree No. 208 stipulating the authority, order, procedures, records for establishing, appraising and approving archaeological planning; planning, projects for preserving, repairing and restoring historical - cultural relics, scenic spots; investment projects for construction, construction, repair, renovation, construction of individual houses located inside and outside the protection areas of historical - cultural relics, scenic spots, world heritage; investment projects for construction, renovation, upgrading of technical infrastructure works and exhibitions of public museums.
Therefore, it is recommended that the People's Committee of Da Nang City direct relevant agencies and local authorities to implement the relic planning process according to the Government's regulations on authority, order, procedures for establishing, appraising, and approving plans and projects for preserving, repairing, and restoring historical-cultural relics and scenic spots.
Dong Duong Buddhist Institute archaeological site was ranked as a special national relic according to Decision No. 2499 dated December 12, 2016 of the Prime Minister.
Regarding the content of funding for restoration and embellishment, on November 27, 2024, the National Assembly approved the investment policy of the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the period 2025 - 2035 (Resolution No. 162). The program proposes to develop the content and components to support investment in the restoration and embellishment of special national relics and national relics.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is developing a feasibility study report for the program. After the program is approved by the Prime Minister, based on the budget proposal of the Da Nang City People's Committee and the implementation plan, the Ministry will synthesize and coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to arrange funding to support the restoration and embellishment of the Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery National Special Monument.
At the same time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the People's Committee of Da Nang city to proactively include funding in the local medium-term plan and allocate from the local budget, mobilize other legal capital sources to implement the restoration and embellishment of the above-mentioned relic in particular and the relic system in the area in general.
