One of the pioneer households investing on a large scale in the business of motorbikes and agricultural machinery in the center of Ta Hoc commune, Mr. Doan Van Vuong, sub-zone 8, said: Previously, people mainly had to go to Hat Lot town (old Mai Son district) to buy motorbikes, plows, water pumps, and spare parts. Realizing the increasing demand, in 2015, I boldly opened a store right in the commune. With the government's facilitation in procedures, I expanded my repair services and sold spare parts to serve the needs of the people in the area.
Many households in the commune have also boldly invested in opening grocery stores, restaurants, motels, and transportation services to meet the needs of people and visitors on the provincial road. Mr. Lo Van Tan, Mong village, shared: In the past, shopping was very difficult, you had to go far to find a store, now right in the center of the commune there are enough stores for building materials, motorbikes, household appliances, and restaurants to meet the needs of the people.
In the riverside area, especially Ta Hoc port, in recent years, the commune's waterway transport services have developed strongly with loading and unloading activities, transporting construction materials and ferry services to transport people and vehicles across the river. Some households have opened additional food and beverage services, supplying gasoline and soft drinks to serve the needs of residents and visitors. Thanks to that, the port area has become increasingly vibrant, creating jobs and stable income for many local workers.

After the merger, Ta Hoc commune has an area of nearly 150 km², with more than 3,200 households and 13,704 people. Large area, large population, high demand for exchange, purchase and sale of goods and services, favorable for business households and enterprises to develop. The commune encourages people to develop their businesses, gradually forming concentrated service points, meeting the needs of production and consumption on the spot. The whole commune currently has 65 business establishments, of which 54 are managed by individuals and households and 11 are owned by enterprises and cooperatives. The main types of businesses include: grocery stores, construction materials, gasoline, restaurants, mechanical repair services, civil electricity, and agricultural product purchasing points. Total retail sales of goods in the first 9 months of 2025 reached 159.3 billion VND, reflecting the dynamism of the private economy and the increasing consumption needs of the people.
According to the Resolution of the 1st Congress of Ta Hoc Commune Party Committee, term 2025-2030, the commune strives to have at least 5 private enterprises and companies operating in production and business in the area by 2030, making the private economy an important driving force in local development. To realize this goal, the commune focuses on mobilizing resources to invest in socio-economic infrastructure, especially transportation, electricity, water, central markets and residential areas. Along with that, review and plan areas with potential for commercial development, encourage people to expand their business establishments to meet the increasing needs of the people.

Mr. Ngo Minh Tuan, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: Developing trade and services is a direction suitable to local conditions. In the coming time, the commune will coordinate with functional agencies to continue investing and effectively exploiting Ta Hoc port, expanding cargo and passenger transport activities, creating momentum to promote trade and develop services. At the same time, step up propaganda, support people to access preferential loans, encourage the establishment of trade cooperatives, gradually forming a widespread network of goods and services supply. In addition, the commune coordinates with functional forces to strengthen market management, ensure food safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation, and protect consumer rights.
Exploiting the potential advantages and local resources, Ta Hoc is opening a new direction in trade and service development, bringing a new look to the locality, contributing to the implementation of sustainable development goals.
