On September 23, Thai Ha Book Joint Stock Company and the Vietnam Women's Museum organized an exchange program to launch three books, "The Vice Ambassador's Love Story," “Short Mile, Long Mile” and “Fate of Writing” by writer, teacher, journalist, poet Nguyen Thi My Dung.

Among them, the novel "The Love Story of a Deputy Ambassador" is published in Vietnamese and French, based on the love story of a French Deputy Ambassador and Mrs. Tran Thi Quy.

The story began in 1938. They lived together as husband and wife, had two children, but did not dare to publicly announce it. Then many events occurred. In mid-1945, the husband returned to France, bringing his children with him. The wife stayed in Vietnam, living a very difficult life. Although they were thousands of miles apart, the husband remained loyal and took care of his children until they grew up. Only later did the Deputy Ambassador try to find out his whereabouts, arrange for his wife to go to France and hold a wedding – at that time they were about sixty or seventy years old.

The beautiful wedding is a testament to a steadfast, enduring love that transcends time and space. Later, Mrs. Quy participated in many charitable activities and contributed to her homeland.

Touched by that story, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Dung wrote the novel "The Vice Ambassador's Love Story" (with some characters' names changed), first published in 2005.

According to the author, hardships, wars, and border separations only interrupted their love, but never extinguished it. Not only that, the people, their personalities, and what they have contributed to their homeland and country make readers love them even more.

Translator Phan Van Cat once commented that the novel "The Vice Ambassador's Love Story" has many dramatic details that make readers constantly moved, pity and admire.

With “Short Mile Long Mile,” author Nguyen Thi My Dung brings together 7 previously published poetry collections along with many poems published in newspapers and on social networks. Many poems express thoughts on important events of the country, experiences when traveling around the world or the author’s genuine feelings about the natural landscape, the country, and the people.

If the two books above are the “brainchild” of author Nguyen Thi My Dung, then “Duyen Cam Pen” is the sentiment of “everyone for one person” - a collection of shares, comments, and evaluations of readers, literary friends, and poet friends about Ms. Nguyen Thi My Dung. Among them are the portrait painted by artist Le Lam for Ms. My Dung, the autograph of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the poem written by Professor Tran Van Khe for Ms. My Dung…

At the age of nearly 90, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Dung persistently creates, inspires and brings positive energy to everyone, as veteran journalist Huynh Dung Nhan shared: “The author is 87 years old but still works and creates enthusiastically, always passing on the fire to the next generation. Through her books, I feel a great source of energy, a spirit of endless creativity, and enthusiasm in participating in cultural and artistic activities”./.

Writer, teacher, journalist, poet Nguyen Thi My Dung was born in 1939 in Ha Tinh. She has been a member of the Hanoi Writers Association since 1998. In addition to her educational career, she also writes prose, articles, and poetry. She has published 14 poetry collections, 4 novels (2 reprints), 1 short story collection, 7 memoirs, and hundreds of articles.
