Temporarily suspend the work of the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh

On the evening of July 31, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province issued Decision No. 1234/QD-UBND on temporarily suspending Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien, Provincial Party Committee member and Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Training, from July 31 to serve the inspection of the organization of the entrance exam for grade 10 high school.

The period of suspension from work is 15 days.

The decision clearly states: During the inspection period, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien is responsible for providing full information and relevant documents as requested by the head of the inspection team and competent authorities, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.

Also on July 31, the Thai Binh People's Committee issued Decision No. 1236/QD-UBND assigning Mr. Pham Van Nghiem, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee, to be in charge of operating the Department of Education and Training during the time Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien was temporarily suspended from work.

Previously, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province received petitions from citizens and public opinion reflecting irregularities in exam scores in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year.

Specifically, when the exam scores were released, many parents and teachers at several junior high schools in Thai Binh province were surprised and upset because the scores did not accurately reflect the test results of the candidates.

In particular, many candidates scored 3 in the math exam but after the re-examination, the result was 9 points. There was even a candidate who won second prize in math in the provincial excellent student exam but only scored 5.5 points, the re-examination result of the candidate got 9.5 points in math...

After receiving petitions and recommendations from the people, on July 30, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province requested the Provincial Inspectorate to conduct an unscheduled inspection of the implementation of policies, laws, tasks and powers assigned to the Department of Education and Training, the Director of Education and Training and related organizations and individuals in the organization of the entrance exam for grade 10 of high school in the 2024-2025 school year.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province also requested the Department of Home Affairs to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to advise the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to consider the decision to temporarily suspend the Director of the Department of Education and Training of the province to serve the inspection activities.

On July 30, based on the results of the meeting of the Party Executive Committee of the Provincial People's Committee, the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of Thai Binh requested the Provincial Inspectorate to conduct an unexpected inspection of the implementation of legal policies, duties and powers of the Department of Education and Training, the Director of the Department of Education and Training and related organizations and individuals in organizing the entrance exam for grade 10.

Immediately after that, the Thai Binh Provincial Inspectorate established an inspection team of 11 members, led by Mr. Pham Cong Dich - Deputy Chief Inspector of Thai Binh Province. The monitoring team consisted of 3 members to carry out the above tasks.

The inspection period is 20 days from the date of announcement of the inspection decision.
