"Love Day" with teachers and students in the highlands

Implementing the "Love Day" program launched by the Department of Education and Training, many schools in urban areas have a journey to cross mountains, share love, and support teachers and students in schools in mountainous and border areas before the new school year 2025 - 2026.

Journey of love

In mid-August, putting aside the hustle and bustle of work before the new school year, nearly 20 teachers from Nguyen Van Thoai High School (Hoa Xuan Ward), Phan Chau Trinh High School (Hai Chau Ward) and Ton That Tung High School (An Hai Ward) were present on the bus named "Love Day" heading to schools in mountainous areas.

After the journey over the mountains, the teachers arrived at Tay Giang High School (Tay Giang commune) and Vo Chi Cong High School (Hung Son border commune).

Here, the delegation presented cash, school supplies, warm clothes, and necessities, totaling more than 120 million VND to serve the new school year 2025 - 2026.

A representative of Nguyen Van Thoai High School said that in order to have funds and supplies to give to teachers and students in the highlands, the school opened a summer library combined with the "Coffee and Books - Sharing Love" activity and the Red Flamboyant Flower volunteer campaign to mobilize funds and school supplies from staff, teachers, parents and students of the school.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Tuoi, Principal of Vo Chi Cong High School, said that the school was established to serve students in mountainous and border communes. At the end of 2020, due to a landslide, all teachers and students of the school had to be urgently evacuated. Since then, teachers and students have been teaching and learning at Tay Giang High School, more than 40km away, in conditions of lack of facilities and difficult transportation.

Meanwhile, Tay Giang High School serves the learning needs of Co Tu students. Despite regular investment, the school's teaching and learning conditions are still difficult due to the characteristics of the highlands such as: remote terrain, harsh weather, and difficult life of the Co Tu people.

Receiving funds and school supplies from urban schools, Mr. Tuoi excitedly said: "This support not only shows the support and sharing of love between officials, workers and students in urban areas to teachers and students in mountainous areas, but also adds confidence and motivation for teachers and students in mountainous areas to overcome difficulties and strive to teach and study well."

The beauty of education

Continuing the journey of "Love Day", Hoang Hoa Tham High School (An Hai ward) has just coordinated with Regiment 224 (Air Defense Division 375, Air Defense - Air Force) to visit schools in mountainous areas.

At Ca Dy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Ben Giang Commune), the delegation awarded 10 scholarships, each worth 1 million VND, to students who overcame difficulties to study well and 100 study gifts to help disadvantaged students go to school before the new school year.

At Quang Trung High School (Dong Giang Commune), the delegation presented a “Love Bookshelf” with hundreds of books and stories to students. In particular, the delegation donated many equipment and learning materials for Physical Education (volleyball, soccer, badminton) to help improve learning conditions and improve health for teachers and students in the highlands.

Accompanying teachers and students in the highlands, the Pedagogical Council of Nguyen Khuyen Secondary and High School (Cam Le Ward) visited Tay Giang Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Tay Giang Commune). During the meeting, in addition to the gifts given, the teachers also interacted, participated in activities, and talked with students in the highlands, creating a warm atmosphere, imbued with the love between teachers and students.

Ms. Ho Thi Tam, Principal of Tay Giang Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, shared: “The program “Love Day” is truly a meaningful and deeply humane activity. Not only does it give practical gifts, but the program is also a bond connecting teachers and students, erasing geographical distances, and is a great spiritual encouragement to help disadvantaged students have confidence in their learning journey.”

A representative of the Department of Education and Training said that the "Love Day" program was launched by the department from the 2017-2018 school year and has been maintained until now. After the consolidation of administrative units, the "Love Day" program continues to be promoted, becoming a humane beauty of the city's education sector, contributing to shortening the educational gap between the plains and the mountains, gradually improving the quality of teaching and learning in the area.
