New President: Building a position of people's hearts, ensuring the highest national interests

"At this special moment, I am very moved, honored and fully aware of my great responsibility before the Party, State and people when the National Assembly trusted and elected me to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam," the new President said.

Sending my sincere thanks to the Party Central Committee, the Politburo , the Secretariat, General Secretary To Lam and the Party and State leaders for their trust and recommendation to take on this noble responsibility; the new President would like to express his sincere respect and infinite gratitude to beloved Uncle Ho; and deeply appreciate the great contributions of predecessors, veteran revolutionaries, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes, martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, compatriots, comrades and people across the country who have strived, are ready to sacrifice and make sacrifices so that our country can have the foundation, potential, position and international prestige it has today.

Recalling the time in February 1975, in the heroic atmosphere of the whole country turning to the beloved South, the new President said that at that time he volunteered to join the army.

"I volunteered to join the army with the intention and mindset: I went to fight to liberate the South, unify the country, and only hoped that on the day of victory, I would return alive and happy; I absolutely did not think or dream of reaching this level or that position," President Luong Cuong shared.

The new President said that, up to now, after nearly 50 years of serving the revolution, he has held many positions, been trained and tested in fighting to protect the Fatherland; and matured from a soldier to a high-ranking leader of the Party.

Regardless of his position or assigned tasks, he is always steadfast and politically steadfast, absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, striving to overcome difficulties and challenges, actively studying, cultivating, training, preserving moral qualities, lifestyle and improving working capacity; wholeheartedly striving to successfully complete all tasks assigned by the Party, State, Army and people.

"On this occasion, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Party, State, Army, Party committees and authorities at all levels; thank the leaders, former leaders, comrades, teammates and people who have educated, trained, loved, protected, guided and created conditions for me to fulfill my duties and grow up as I am today," said the President.

In his inaugural speech, the new President affirmed that, in the face of the increasingly high demands of the cause of national construction and protection, in his new position, as he just swore before the National Assembly, compatriots, comrades and voters nationwide; he will do his best to strive to fulfill his duties as President in accordance with the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the tasks entrusted to him by the Party, State and people.

Continue to preserve and strengthen solidarity and unity within the Party; together with the entire Party, people and army, continue to take care of building and promoting the strength of great national solidarity; build a clean and strong socialist rule-of-law state that is truly of the people, by the people and for the people; strengthen national defense and security, build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite and modern people's armed forces that are always an absolutely loyal and trustworthy political and fighting force of the Party, State and people.

At the same time, build and consolidate the "people's heart position", the all-people national defense position and the solid people's security position; consistently implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, diversification, proactive and active international integration, ensuring the highest national interests, Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner, an active and responsible member of the international community.

Resolutely and persistently defend the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the nation, maintain a peaceful and stable environment for national construction and development. Resolutely pursue the goal of national independence and socialism, strive to build a Vietnam with rich people, strong country, democracy, equality, civilization, prosperity and happiness.

"To fulfill this noble responsibility, together with my own efforts and determination, I respectfully hope that the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the General Secretary, leaders and former leaders of the Party, the State, the Vietnam Fatherland Front; all levels, sectors, localities, agencies, organizations, compatriots, comrades, voters nationwide and our compatriots abroad will support, help and create conditions for me to successfully complete the assigned tasks," the President expressed.
