Strengthening the management, exploitation and provision of public irrigation services

On the morning of October 21, Comrade Chau Van Hoa - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee as head of the working delegation, together with representatives of relevant departments and branches, had a working session with Tra Vinh and Ben Tre Irrigation Works Management and Exploitation Company Limited to promptly remove difficulties, create conditions for the enterprise to successfully complete its tasks in 2025 and prepare its operation plan for 2026.

In 2025, Tra Vinh Irrigation Works Management and Exploitation Company Limited was assigned to provide irrigation public services and products on an area of ​​265,369.99 hectares. In the past 9 months, the irrigation area reached 198,000 hectares. In 2026, the company plans to manage and exploit irrigation works in the two areas of Tra Vinh (old) and Vinh Long (old) over 547,592 hectares with a total estimated budget of 206.8 billion VND.

Ben Tre Irrigation Works Management and Exploitation Company Limited was assigned to irrigate over 116,197 hectares. To date, the company has completed 158,316 hectares. In 2026, the company will take over the management and exploitation of irrigation works, irrigation systems invested and built with state budget capital or capital originating from the state budget.

At the meeting, the units requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Finance to coordinate in reviewing and arranging funding sources for public irrigation services in 2026, as well as promptly adjusting and supplementing the list of repair works in 2025, to ensure progress and efficiency in serving agricultural production.

Tra Vinh Irrigation Works Management and Exploitation Company Limited proposed the province to direct relevant agencies and units to hand over construction documents and land; support the completion of public land management procedures; and consider handing over about 863,843.97 square meters of public land outside the project to local management.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Chau Van Hoa directed departments, branches, localities and 2 companies to focus on overcoming existing problems and difficulties, striving to complete their tasks well; strengthen the management, exploitation and provision of public irrigation services; proactively review the current status of the system of works, propose repair and upgrade plans suitable to actual needs.

At the same time, direct the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Finance and localities to coordinate in reviewing the area, balancing the arrangement of the budget and guiding the company to complete the records and procedures for managing irrigation works land, ensuring unified management in accordance with regulations. Promptly advise on adjusting and supplementing the list of repair works, ensuring progress and effective use of public service support funds to serve the production needs of the people.
