From July 1, 2025, Khanh Hoa Power Transmission Team officially operates on the basis of merging Khanh Hoa Power Transmission and Ninh Thuan Power Transmission, under PTC3. The unit currently manages more than 664km of 220kV, 500kV lines, 8 transformer stations, with a total capacity of over 5,000MVA; at the same time directly operates 66.9km of lines serving renewable energy power plants.
According to Mr. Ho Van Huong - Captain of Khanh Hoa Power Transmission Team, the province currently has a total renewable energy capacity of more than 3,500 MW, of which 22 plants are directly connected to the national transmission grid with about 2,276 MW (18 solar power plants of 1,940 MW, 4 wind power plants of 336 MW). From now until the end of 2025, it is expected that 3 more solar power plants with nearly 180 MW will be connected.
With the strong development of electricity capacity, the transmission system is facing many pressures. The power grid often operates in a full or overloaded state. In addition, many problems have not been resolved at the factories for a long time. Typically: Trung Nam Wind Power Plant does not have a legal guarantee unit to operate the 110kV connection line; BIM2 and BIM3 Solar Power Plant clusters have different relay configurations; My Son - Hoan Loc Viet Plant has relays at the 220kV Thap Cham Transformer Station that are not synchronized in time; Trung Nam - Thuan Nam Plant has distances between phases and insulation strings that do not meet standards... In addition, the loose coordination and information exchange regulations between units also cause difficulties in transmission management and operation.
A synchronous solution is needed.
According to the Power Plan VIII and the adjusted Power Plan VIII, Khanh Hoa is determined to develop all types of power sources, from LNG, thermal power, pumped storage hydropower, wind power, solar power to nuclear power, with a total capacity of more than 20,000 MW, becoming a major energy center. Therefore, it requires a new, modern, and synchronous investment in the transmission grid to transmit all power sources in the area.

Mr. Huong emphasized: "Strengthening coordination, overcoming technical problems, optimizing operations and synchronizing investments between sources and grids not only helps to maximize capacity transmission but also ensures safety and stability for the national power system. This is an important factor contributing to the goal of making Khanh Hoa become Vietnam's strategic energy center in the coming years."
