Taking place in the context of the region entering the post-pandemic period, AMMS-7 emphasized new directions for ASEAN sports in the recovery and transformation period: digital transformation, ensuring sports integrity, developing talents and promoting sports for all.

The joint statement of AMMS-7 acknowledged the recovery efforts of ASEAN sports industries after Covid-19, and encouraged the promotion of technology application in training, data science , event organization and sports administration.

The conference also highlighted programs to promote the participation of women, youth, and people with disabilities; and stressed the need to uphold integrity in sports through anti-doping, anti-match-fixing, and the protection of athletes' rights and welfare.

Continuing the spirit of multi-partnership, AMMS-7 agreed to maintain and expand cooperation mechanisms between ASEAN sports with Japan and China; promote academic cooperation, research, training, and enhance communication on sports values, thereby enhancing ASEAN's recognition in regional events.

These priorities are built in line with the roadmap of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), and at the same time create an important “bridge” towards AMMS-8, which will be hosted by Vietnam in October 2025.

The conference also recognized sports as a new socio -economic driver in the post-pandemic period, linked to sports tourism, the event industry and digital transformation in federation governance.

On that basis, ASEAN countries agreed to strengthen inter-sectoral coordination between sports - health - education, and mobilize the participation of the private sector in the sports value chain, aiming to turn "ASEAN sports identity" into a long-term competitive advantage.

AMMS-7 is considered a milestone for the expansion of cooperation in ASEAN sports, with a cooperation framework with China and Japan in the roadmap to 2030. This is a strategic step, creating a foundation for sustainable capacity development, helping ASEAN sports to be both inclusive and towards international standards.
