Training on Methadone Substitution Treatment for Opioid Addiction for Health Professionals

From August 18 to 29, the Provincial Center for Disease Control organized a training course on Treatment of Opioid Addiction with Methadone for medical staff. Attending the opening ceremony were Associate Professor, Master Nguyen Hong Hai - Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Disease Control and 44 trainees who are treating doctors and medical assistants working at treatment facilities in the province.

During the training period, trainees will learn both theory and practice with the following contents: Overview of HIV/AIDS epidemic and HIV/AIDS prevention and control activities; basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS; overview of harm reduction intervention programs in the world and Vietnam; psychotropic addictive substances, their use and effectiveness; methods of treating addiction to popular opioids in the world and Vietnam; legal basis related to the management of addictive drugs and Methadone...

Training class scene

After the course, students will have basic knowledge about treating opioid addiction with Methadone and the process of dispensing drugs to patients who are given Methadone for many days at opioid addiction treatment facilities using Methadone in the province.
