Focus on handling cases that attract public attention

This morning, April 9, the Provincial People's Procuracy held a meeting with the province's coordinating agencies to assess the situation and results of internal affairs work in the first quarter and discuss coordination tasks for the second quarter of 2024. The report of the Provincial People's Procuracy said: In the first quarter of 2024, the investigation, prosecution, trial, and settlement of criminal cases were in accordance with legal provisions, without injustice, omission of criminals, suspension of investigation, suspension of cases due to non-compliance or the court's declaration of non-compliance. The management of detention, custody, execution of criminal sentences, and execution of civil sentences were basically carried out in accordance with legal provisions.

Regarding crimes against social order, there were 103 cases in the province, an increase of 19 cases compared to the previous quarter, killing 4 people, injuring 10 people, and causing property damage of more than 7,736 billion VND. The authorities investigated and solved 93 cases/204 subjects, reaching a rate of 93%. The investigation agency initiated new prosecutions in 61 cases/103 defendants.

There were 33 cases of drug-related crimes, including 16 cases of “Illegal possession of narcotics”, 7 cases of “Illegal transportation of narcotics”, 6 cases of “Illegal trading of narcotics”, 4 cases of “Organizing illegal use of narcotics”. The investigation agency prosecuted 58 cases/77 defendants.

Regarding crimes violating the law on economic management order, corruption, positions, environment, information technology, and telecommunications networks, the investigation agency prosecuted 90 cases/105 defendants, a decrease of 20 cases and an increase of 37 defendants compared to the fourth quarter of 2023.

The two-level investigation agencies received and handled 228 denunciations and reports of crimes, recommended prosecution at the provincial level 34, at the district level 194, resolved 114 denunciations and reports, temporarily suspended 16 denunciations and reports, and currently have 98 denunciations and reports being resolved within the statutory time limit...

The conference frankly pointed out the existing problems and difficulties, thereby exchanging and resolving them to effectively carry out the assigned tasks. Accordingly, in the second quarter, the provincial coordinating agencies will further strengthen the fight against violations and crimes, especially the violations and crimes that have emerged in recent times such as economic crimes, drug crimes, property infringement, high-tech crimes, smuggling, and trade fraud, while coordinating to speed up the resolution of pending cases, cases of public interest, directed by local Party committees, cases of returned files for further investigation as well as cases and incidents that have received direction from the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and complicated cases and incidents that are of public interest.

Concluding the conference, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee Ly Kieu Van analyzed and clarified each specific content and affirmed that in the first quarter of 2024, the functional forces had performed well their functions and tasks in the fight against crime, which was highly appreciated by the Party Committee, government and people.

Regarding tasks in the second quarter, the authorities strive to overcome difficulties in the industry and localities to effectively carry out the work of fighting and preventing crime.

In addition to the tasks identified by the internal affairs agencies, the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee requested that the relevant agencies review the coordination regulations to have more synchronous and close coordination in the fight against crime right from the detection stage, to avoid the situation of "my rights, your rights" and to avoid returning the file for further investigation.

Along with that, the Provincial People's Procuracy strengthens the supervision of the handling of crime reports and investigation activities of the investigation agencies so that cases and incidents are better resolved as well as pays attention to handling cases and incidents that have been included in the plan in the second quarter, especially cases and incidents that are of public interest, ensuring deterrence, education , and prevention, thereby warning subjects who are having the intention to commit crimes...
