Grasping the market demand, flower growers in La Gi town have selected flower varieties suitable for the local climate and soil to supply the Tet flower market this year. And flowers such as: orchids, chrysanthemums, marigolds, celosias, poinsettias, anthuriums... are the most grown flowers during Tet. Depending on the growth and development time of each type of flower, growers will choose the appropriate time to plant seeds to ensure the plants bloom in time for Tet.

Owning more than 200 large and small orchid pots, at this time, Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Nga in Tan Ly 1 village, Tan Binh commune, La Gi town, is busy taking care of and watering her family's orchid garden. According to Ms. Nga, in recent years, her family's profits from selling orchids have been quite high because orchids are always popular in the market. An orchid branch usually costs from a few tens, a few hundred thousand VND to a few million VND... Orchids are often combined into pots, each pot depending on the quantity and type has a different price, suitable for the economy of each flower player. According to our records, Ms. Nga's orchid garden is quite rich in species such as: Ngoc diem, lan kiem, phi diep, dendro, tam bao sac...

Ms. Nga always meticulously watered and fertilized her family's orchid garden.

Ms. Nga shared: “During the time near Tet, with the current sunny and windy climate, growers must diligently water the orchids so that they do not lose water. An important thing is to watch for the plants to bloom on time for Tet. At the same time, we must regularly observe to see if the plants have any diseases, especially insects that bite the leaves and buds or soft rot that will rot the plants. In addition, we must pay attention to watering and fertilizing periodically to help the plants grow and produce healthy buds and beautiful flowers.”

The orchid garden of Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Nga's family in Tan Ly 1 village, Tan Binh commune, La Gi town is quite diverse in species.

With more than 20 years of experience in growing marigolds and celosias, every year, in the 11th lunar month, Ms. Nguyen Thi Can in Phuoc Tien village, Tan Phuoc commune, La Gi town plants more than 2,000 pots of marigolds and more than 1,000 pots of celosias to serve the Tet flower market. Ms. Can said that these are two types of flowers that are quite easy to grow and care for but bring in quite a high income. On average, every year, during Tet, when growing the above two types of flowers, she earns a profit of 25 - 30 million VND.

Marigolds - a very popular flower during the New Year and Spring because they represent longevity, fortune and filial piety. Therefore, in the last months of the year, many farming households like Mrs. Nguyen Thi Can's family also actively grow this flower. In addition to the pots of marigolds "racing" to show off their bright yellow and orange colors, pots of celosias are also popular during the New Year because according to feng shui, celosias are meant to bring luck and fortune to the homeowner. Moreover, this flower also symbolizes nobility and willingness to sacrifice for others.
