Previously, the Ministry of Transport received a petition from Thanh Hoa voters to allow steel-hulled and wooden-hulled inland waterway vehicles to enter fishing boat repair facilities that have been assessed and recognized as qualified by the Department of Fisheries to conduct on-the-road inspections, periodic inspections, and repair and conversion of vehicles.
The Ministry of Transport said that steel-hulled and wooden-hulled ships can be inspected at fishing boat repair and construction facilities if the facilities meet the requirements of QCVN 89: 2015/BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport (illustrative photo).
The Ministry of Transport said that on May 21, the Ministry of Transport also received a document from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs reporting to the Prime Minister, which included the petition of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province similar to the petition of voters.
In a document sent to the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, the Ministry of Transport affirmed that steel-hulled and wooden-hulled inland waterway vehicles when due for on-dock inspection and periodic inspection, repair and conversion can be completely carried out at facilities for building, converting and repairing fishing boats.
However, this facility must meet the conditions that have been assessed by the inspection agency under the Ministry of Transport to meet the requirements specified in the National Technical Regulation on facilities for building, converting, repairing and restoring inland waterway vehicles (QCVN 89: 2015/BGTVT) of the Ministry of Transport.
In addition, the Ministry of Transport has also directed relevant agencies under the Ministry to proactively coordinate with relevant Departments and branches of Thanh Hoa province to review and guide fishing vessel repair facilities to conduct capacity assessment and recognition according to QCVN 89:2015/BGTVT, contributing to improving the efficiency of inspection of steel-hulled and wooden-hulled inland waterway vehicles in Thanh Hoa province.
The Ministry of Transport also requested the National Assembly Delegation of Thanh Hoa province to consult with the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province to direct relevant departments and branches to coordinate with specialized agencies of the Ministry of Transport in the process of reviewing and guiding fishing vessel repair facilities to conduct capacity assessment and recognition according to QCVN 89:2015/BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport.
