Tay Ninh announces planning for Moc Bai border gate economic zone

Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone will become a new dynamic area, an economic growth pole with regional and international competitiveness, becoming an important trade hub of the Southeast region, between Vietnam and Cambodia and the ASEAN region.

On September 27, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province held a ceremony to announce the master plan for the construction of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone, Tay Ninh until 2045.

According to the project approved by the Prime Minister, the total planning area is about 21,284 hectares, including Ben Cau and Phuoc Chi communes and part of Long Thuan commune, Tay Ninh .

The planned population size by 2030 is expected to be about 120,000 to 155,000 people, and by 2045 about 260,000 to 310,000 people.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van reiterated the key objectives in the planning of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone.

Including becoming a new dynamic region, an economic growth pole with regional and international competitiveness, becoming an important trade hub of the Southeast region, between Vietnam and Cambodia and the ASEAN region, a center for border gate services, international container transit ports and logistics services, a center for finance, trade, and land border services in the Southeast region.

Develop in the direction of industry - urban, with a synchronous and modern social technical infrastructure system.

Developing high-tech industry, green industry, green - clean, smart urban areas with identity in international integration and connection, organizing characteristic urban landscape architecture space, sustainable environment and efficient land use.

Socio-economic development is associated with ensuring national defense and security, maintaining security and order in border areas, promoting cooperation and economic, cultural and social exchanges.

The economic zone planning is also based on 5 main sub-regions, including border areas and border gates that will form and develop the Moc Bai international border gate area and the secondary border gates of Cay Me, Long Thuan, and Phuoc Chi.

The priority area for industrial and warehouse development will organize industrial production, service and logistics zones according to a concentrated model, linked to border gate areas and inter-regional technical infrastructure systems such as the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway and connection with Cambodia, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai railway, national highways 22, 14C...

The third area will develop urban areas, industrial - urban - service zones, logistics services and urban functions in sync with industrial development areas to create high-quality, sustainable living, working and labor spaces.

The fourth area will form tourist clusters associated with exploiting the ecological landscape of the Dong Vam Co River in Loi Thuan and Phuoc Chi areas.

And the existing agricultural and rural residential areas will continue to maintain agricultural production areas and rural residential areas associated with the region's unique cultural traditions.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh, Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee, said that the province has issued a plan to implement the planning of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone, assigning 15 specific tasks to each department, branch and locality to carry out.

In particular, actively coordinating with the Ministry of Finance and central ministries and branches to soon complete and report to the Government for approval on the pilot project of a number of mechanisms and policies applicable to Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone with outstanding policies on land, tax, customs, night-time economy pilot, selection of strategic investors, etc.
