The embankment project to prevent landslides on the banks of the Vam Co Tay River is under construction.
According to statistics, from the beginning of 2024 until now, the whole province has had 16 serious landslides and riverbank subsidence incidents, with a total length of affected sections of nearly 3.8km. The landslides have caused great damage to infrastructure and at the same time posed a potential risk to the safety of people living along the river.
In response, the Provincial People's Committee has directed localities to review and delineate areas at high risk of landslides, and at the same time focus resources on investing in a number of embankments to prevent, overcome consequences, adapt to climate change, contribute to protecting property and stabilizing people's lives. However, due to limited resources, many dangerous landslide locations have not been thoroughly handled.
Faced with that reality, at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh on September 26, 2025, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province proposed that the Central Government support a total budget of VND 2,317 billion to invest in the construction of 6 key embankment projects, including:
Anti-erosion embankment to protect Kien Tuong ward (remaining section), total investment of 437 billion VND, proposed support of 393 billion VND.
Embankment to prevent landslides on Thu Thua canal bank, Thu Thua commune, total investment of 340 billion VND, proposed support of 300 billion VND;
Handling landslides on Can Giuoc river bank, Can Giuoc commune (remaining section), total investment of 173 billion VND, proposed support of 152 billion VND.
Embankment to protect the banks of the Vam Co Tay River (from the Health Protection Center to the Ring Canal), total investment of 210 billion VND, proposed support of 200 billion VND.
Embankment to protect the banks of the Vam Co Tay River (from the new Tan An bridge to Rach Chanh sluice), total investment of 821 billion VND, proposed support of 619 billion VND.
Bao Dinh River embankment (section from Vo Van Mon street to Tien Giang province border), total investment of 968 billion VND, proposed support of 653 billion VND.
The early allocation of capital by the Central Government to implement the above projects will help Tay Ninh be more proactive in preventing and overcoming riverbank erosion, ensuring safety for people, and contributing to sustainable socio-economic development./.
