Thuy Linh, Hai Dang enter the quarterfinals of the Vietnam Open 2025 badminton tournament

On September 11, despite facing many difficulties in round 2 of the Vietnam Open 2025, Vietnam's No. 1 female badminton player - Nguyen Thuy Linh knew how to overcome them to make her name in the quarterfinals.

In this match, Nguyen Thuy Linh (number 1 seed, world ranking 18) entered the match in the second round of the women's singles against Malaysian player Kisona Selvaduray (world ranking 77). Despite having a much higher ranking, Thuy Linh did not start well in the first set when her opponent played better. Kisona Selvaduray created a surprise when she led the number 1 seed with a score of 7-4 and then 15-9 before winning 21-14.

In set 2, Thuy Linh came back strongly and had a series of 6 points in the middle of the set to lead 17-10 before winning 21-12.

In set 3, Vietnam's No. 1 tennis player dominated her opponent, she had a series of 8 points at the beginning of the set to lead 11-4, then led 16-8 before winning 21-10. Defeating Kisona Selvaduray 2-1 (14-21, 21-12, 21-10), Thuy Linh entered the quarterfinals.

In the round of 8 strongest players, Thuy Linh will meet Thai opponent - Nithittikrai (ranked 80th in the world).

Also on the afternoon of September 11, tennis player Nguyen Hai Dang came from behind to defeat India's Mithun Manjunath with a score of 2-1 (12-21, 21-17, 21-18), thereby entering the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Thus, Hai Dang is the only male tennis player of Vietnam remaining in the men's singles category. His next opponent is Wang Zi Jun (ranked 159th in the world) of China.

Belonging to the BWF Tour Super 100 level, the Vietnam Open 2025 tournament has a total prize value of 110,000 USD, taking place from September 9 to 14 in Ho Chi Minh City.
