On the evening of October 7, the Thai Nguyen Province Hydrometeorological Station issued an urgent flood warning on rivers in the province. Water levels at many measuring stations exceeded alert level 3, especially at Gia Bay, Cha and Ba Be stations. Floods are rising rapidly, posing a risk of deep inundation, landslides and flash floods in many midland and mountainous areas.

According to the Thai Nguyen Province Hydrometeorological Station, over the past 12 hours, major floods have occurred on rivers and streams in the province. By 5 p.m. on October 7, water levels at many measuring stations had exceeded alert level 3 and continued to increase.

Specifically, on the Cau River, the water level at Gia Bay station reached 29.73m, 2.37m higher than alert level 3 and is rising rapidly; at Cha station it reached 9.56m, 0.56m higher than alert level 2; at Cho Moi and Thac Gieng stations, the flood is still high and complicated. On the Nang River, at Ba Be station, the measured water level is 157.86m, 1.36m higher than alert level 3, and continues to rise slowly.

It is forecasted that on the night of October 7, floods on rivers will continue to rise. At Gia Bay station, the flood peak is likely to reach 29.70m, 2.70m higher than alarm level 3, even 0.89m higher than the historical flood peak in 2024. Cha station forecasts that the flood peak may reach 9.8 - 10.3m, equivalent to or exceeding the historical flood level in 1971.

Thai Nguyen Province's Hydrometeorological Station warns that rapidly rising floods can cause deep inundation of riverside areas, low-lying areas, roads, spillways, and threaten the safety of construction works, residential areas, and cause danger when traveling through underground passages and spillways.

Faced with this situation, people in high-risk areas need to proactively evacuate to safe places, local authorities need to increase 24/7 duty, prepare plans to prevent flash floods, landslides and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
