Mr. Winij Lertratanachai, CEO of Fresh Air Festival company, recently revealed to Thai media that the match between Buakaw Banchamek and Manny Pacquiao will likely have to be postponed to 2025.
After the official press conference in 2023, the much-awaited fight between Manny Pacquiao and Buakaw Banchamek is scheduled to take place in April this year at Impact Arena (Muang Thong Thani, Thailand).
However, the match was ultimately unable to take place as planned. In March this year, the organizers of the match, Fresh Air Festival, announced that the martial arts event was postponed due to force majeure.
The Pacquiao vs Buakaw fight will not take place this year
Recently, Winij Lertratanachai confirmed that the contract to organize the above match still belongs to Fresh Air Festival. This company is still looking for the right time to organize the match.
Mr. Winij Lertratanachai said that the match will take place no later than the first quarter of 2025. In addition, Winij Lertratanachai revealed that whether the match takes place in Thailand or abroad will depend on the sponsors.
Last year, Fresh Air Festival announced that Manny Pacquiao and Buakaw would fight under boxing rules and the fight would last for six rounds of three minutes each.
Manny Pacquiao (born 1978) is a boxing icon in the Philippines. Manny Pacquiao has won 12 major titles in 8 different weight classes. After losing by points to Yordenis Ugas in September 2021, he decided to hang up his gloves.
Meanwhile, Buakaw Banchamek (born in 1982) is a symbol of Muaythai and Kickboxing in the world . On October 19, Buakaw Banchamek participated in a boxing match in Japan with boxer Kouzi Tanaka. This was the first boxing match in Buakaw's career.
Despite the draw, Buakaw Banchamek insisted that the fight was a preparation for his fight with Manny Pacquiao. The 42-year-old also insisted that his fight with the Filipino legend was not canceled. However, Buakaw does not know when he will fight Manny Pacquiao.
