These are two adjacent localities, both with strategic locations and the largest economic scale in the Southern region, but up to now, the problem of connecting traffic infrastructure, especially between Dong Nai and the old Ho Chi Minh City, is still limited.
At the meeting, Mr. Vu Hong Van, Secretary of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, said that traffic connection between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City is a particularly important issue. Without a synchronous traffic connection system, Dong Nai will lose the opportunity to develop and fall behind. Regarding traffic connection, Dong Nai commits to take action with Ho Chi Minh City; not only agreeing on policies but also coming up with specific determinations, clear roadmaps, and breakthrough solutions to build road and railway projects connecting the two localities.

To promote the socio-economic development of the two localities, exploit the potential and advantages of Long Thanh airport, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City are currently implementing many highway and beltway projects. In the future, when Long Thanh airport comes into operation, the two localities need to build more bridges across the Dong Nai river and strategic railway lines. These projects not only serve traffic but also create an axis for urban development, industry, logistics, high-quality services, forming a seamless and sustainable development space between the two major economic centers of the Southern region.
Accordingly, Dong Nai will closely coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City to accelerate the progress of planned projects, ensuring that the projects are completed on schedule and soon put into effect, especially projects connecting to Long Thanh airport. The two localities need to study and supplement new connecting traffic routes in accordance with the actual situation after the administrative unit arrangement, ensuring a long-term vision, meeting the requirements of developing the Southern key economic zone, optimizing the advantages of Long Thanh airport and shaping a sustainable, interconnected space.

At the meeting, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang said that after the administrative unit arrangement, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai both have larger scale in terms of population and economy, which means greater responsibility, potential and advantages. This conference not only discussed the connection of traffic infrastructure but also the connection of affection between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee hopes that the two localities will develop more strongly in the future, together overcoming difficulties to make economic breakthroughs. At the same time, he requested relevant units to discuss directly each issue and the obstacles that need to be resolved; especially in regional transport projects to find solutions, opening up effective cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai in the coming time.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, based on the planning of the road traffic network in the region, currently between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai there are 45 connecting roads including beltways, expressways, national highways, main roads, provincial roads, large bridges; of which there are 14 existing connecting routes, 13 routes under investment mainly from Binh Duong province to the old Binh Phuoc province, from Dong Nai to the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the rest have not been implemented.
