At dawn, the volunteer group of Tu Tam An Club ( Da Nang city) set off towards Tra Leng commune, a mountainous area with many difficulties in the old Nam Tra My district.
The road to Tra Leng is winding, covered in thick fog, and steep, but cannot deter people with the desire to share and "light up love".
Journey of sympathetic hearts
Established two years ago, Tu Tam An Club currently has more than 40 members who are teachers, civil servants, students and traders in Da Nang. Not only stopping at calling for donations, the Club has built a "sustainable charity" model to connect Dak Lak farmers to consume durian, supporting agricultural product output. All profits from this activity are collected to organize charity programs.
Thanks to that, the delegation had enough funds to build a power station worth 130 million VND, providing electricity for 40 households with 150 people in Tra Leng commune.
“This is not only a source of light, but also a belief for people to see that there are still people who always follow and accompany them,” Ms. Tran Thi My Hien, Club Director, emotionally shared.
Light in the mountains and forests
Along with the power station project, the Club also organized cooking with the locals with 150 meals, school bags, teddy bears and many other essential items for students in the highlands. In particular, on this occasion, the group also organized the Mid-Autumn Festival at Tra Leng 1 Primary School at Ong Thai school, bringing lanterns, candies and laughter in the mountains and forests. The children here, who are used to the dark and the roads without electricity, now get to watch the bright moon under the yellow lights, holding cakes in their hands, their eyes shining with joy.
Ngo Thi Nhung, a student at Tra Leng 1 Primary School, said shyly:
“I'm so happy. Tonight I can study without being afraid of the dark. I have a light and can celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival like my friends down the street.”
That small joy is a priceless gift for volunteers. Mr. Ho Van Van, Vice Chairman of Tra Leng Commune People's Committee, shared:
“The power station supported by Tu Tam An Club is a very practical project, helping 40 households stabilize their lives, especially during the rainy and stormy season. Not only do they have electricity, but they also receive a lot of love and support from benefactors in Da Nang City.”
Give to receive love
Since its inception, Tu Tam An Club has made many trips to Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Dak Lak... In each place, they have left their mark of kindness, connecting love through practical works and activities.
“We consider volunteering as a journey of the heart. Helping others is not about giving, but about receiving, receiving happiness when seeing their smiles,” said Ms. Hien.
The club also considers community connection an important part of its operating philosophy. Each participant plays a small role, some contribute money, some contribute labor, some simply share posts to spread love.
Light of the human heart
Late in the afternoon, when the power station was started up, a golden light lit up the Tra Leng valley. Children cheered with joy, and the elderly shed tears. That light not only dispelled the darkness, but also illuminated the human love from the lowlands to the highlands.
“We will come back, bringing other practical things such as skill classes, books, and the 'Warm Clothes to School' program for students,” Ms. Hien added, her eyes shining with confidence.
From the dynamic city of Da Nang to the old Nam Tra My highlands, the journey "Lighting up love" of Tu Tam An Club is a testament to the power of compassion and creativity in volunteering.
A power station worth 130 million VND, 40 households have light, hundreds of children celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival in joy. All are lit by the hands and hearts of simple but loving people.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, the light from Tra Leng still quietly spreads as a reminder that when people know how to love and share, every place on this land can become warm.
