This afternoon (January 23), Ho Chi Minh City University of Education announced the results of the analysis of the current cumulative average scores of students admitted by different admission methods. The results were based on data of more than 10,000 students admitted in the last 3 years to the school: 2021, 2022 and 2023.

In 2021 and 2022, the school will use 3 admission methods: direct admission, considering high school academic results and considering high school graduation exam results. By 2023, the school will add a new admission method combining high school academic results with the scores of the specialized competency assessment exam organized by the school itself.

Specifically, in 2020, the cumulative average score of students using the direct admission method was 3.31/4.0; the high school learning outcome method was 3.19/4.0 and the high school graduation exam score was 2.94/4.0.

Students admitted in 2021, cumulative average scores of the above methods are respectively: 3.34/4.0; 3.22/4.0; 3.06/4.0.

Class of 2023 admitted, average score of direct admission method is 3.22/4.0; method of considering high school transcript results is 2.96/4.0; method of considering high school graduation exam score is 2.85/4.0; method of combining high school study score and specialized competency assessment exam score is 3.22/4.0.

From the above data, Master Le Phan Quoc, Deputy Head of Training Department, said that the learning outcomes of students admitted using the method of using high school learning outcomes are higher than those admitted using the method of considering high school graduation exam scores; but lower than those admitted using direct admission methods (direct admission includes direct admission according to the criteria of the Ministry of Education and Training and the school's admission priority).

Regarding the method of assessing specialized abilities combined with academic records, Master Quoc said: "After 1 year of study, students admitted by this method have an average academic result of 3.22/4.0. This result is equivalent to direct admission and this is a very positive result."

Last year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education reserved a maximum of 10% of its quota for the average score of 3 subjects based on the results of 6 semesters of high school (based on transcripts). Of which, 4 majors had a benchmark score above 29, including: chemistry education, mathematics education, biology education, and physics education.

"Based on these results, it is expected that in 2024 the school will continue to maintain the same admission methods as in 2023. At the same time, the school also plans to increase the quota and the number of majors using specialized competency assessment methods," said the Deputy Head of the Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
