(Dan Tri) - On the morning of September 29, the HnamMobile mobile phone and accessories retail system announced its closure on the company's official website.

"After 20 years of association, HnamMobile would like to announce that we will officially stop operating the retail system from today. This is an extremely difficult decision, but in the context of an unfavorable market, we are forced to end this journey," the announcement said.

Accordingly, this unit will officially stop operating from October 1. HnamMobile is a retail system of mobile phones and accessories established in 2006. By 2017, this unit had nearly 20 stores in the Ho Chi Minh City area.

However, the competitive pressure in the mobile device and accessories business has been increasing in recent years. This makes it impossible for the system to continue operating.

In fact, since the Covid-19 period, the mobile market in Vietnam has gradually entered a difficult period. Declining purchasing power and users' habit of using their phones longer are considered the main reasons why the market is no longer as vibrant as before.

Difficulties do not only happen to small retailers and retail chains. Even big companies with many years of experience in operating mobile device business systems have had to struggle many times.

In the period of 2023 and 2024, the giant in the phone retail industry, Mobile World, will also have to close a series of stores that do not meet business performance to optimize the system.

Meanwhile, theFPT Retail system must expand other strategic business segments such as electronics or mobile SIMs to diversify revenue sources and customer base.

Not stopping there, many dealers are also focusing on transforming their business models by operating "mono stores", cooperating with phone manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung for more resources.
