The adaptation process of 16 new penguins
A representative of Lotte World Aquarium Hanoi said that 16 penguins were cared for in a natural environment with suitable temperature, light and water flow. After nearly 1 month, all individuals developed well, gained weight steadily and became active and happy.
A scientific nutritional regimen plays an important role: the daily menu includes nutritious fresh fish such as herring, roe fish, mackerel, etc. Each individual's food portion is closely monitored by caretakers at each meal, to ensure that each penguin absorbs enough nutrients to maintain stable health and develop well.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen - a creature care specialist at Lotte World Aquarium Hanoi - who directly takes care of the penguins, said: "Each individual has different characteristics, so we have to carefully observe each one during their eating and living process.
Some children are big eaters and eat quickly, while others are quite slow and need support to ensure they do not miss meals. In addition, we also record their weight and health status periodically, from which we can adjust their diet or care accordingly. This helps individuals adapt well, maintain their interest in exercise and stay mentally comfortable."

Of the 16 individuals, the oldest penguin, born in 2002 and also the largest, is entering its annual moulting season. This is a typical process that occurs once a year, when penguins temporarily stop swimming, rest and regenerate new, thick, silky feathers that help retain heat better.
The youngest individual just turned 1 year old, but he is agile, active and constantly exploring , becoming a "child star" loved by many children when visiting the aquarium.

Entertainment meaning linked to education and conservation
African penguins are currently listed by IUCN as a species in need of urgent protection due to a sharp decline in their numbers in the wild. Caring for and displaying them at Lotte World Aquarium Hanoi not only creates an attractive highlight for visitors, but also contributes to conveying the conservation message, arousing the community's sense of responsibility towards wild animals.
Coming to Lotte World Aquarium Hanoi, visitors not only get to observe African penguins up close, but also have the opportunity to learn more about the habits and natural life cycle of this animal species.
Through this, the public clearly recognizes the value and urgency of protecting a species that is facing the risk of disappearing in the wild. The aquarium continues to conduct research, care and breeding activities in a natural environment, both spreading public awareness and making practical contributions to the conservation of African penguins.

Mr. Lee Hae Yeol - Director of Lotte World Aquarium Hanoi - shared: “Our mission is not only to bring entertainment and educational experiences to the public, but also to preserve wild animals that are at risk of disappearing in the wild.
The reception and care of 16 African penguins this time is a clear demonstration of that effort, and affirms Lotte World Aquarium's long-term commitment to research, nature conservation and contributions to the maintenance of marine biodiversity."
