Each needle and thread on the flag seems to crystallize the indomitable will of our ancestors from thousands of years ago, preserving every inch of the sacred land of the Fatherland. That image kindles in us boundless national pride. Looking at the proud flag in the middle of the border, surely every child of the Vietnamese people is filled with determination, wholeheartedly preserving and building Vietnam to become increasingly rich, prosperous and powerful. Perhaps because of these sacred things, in every working trip along the border, the image that always moves everyone is the red flag with yellow star fluttering on the roofs of the houses of the ethnic people. How sacred it is when the national flag is always present along the long border or deep forests and mountains. On September 2nd, 78 years ago, at Ba Dinh Square, the red flag with a yellow star fluttered on the stage, marking an important historical milestone of the nation, officially making our country an independent and free country. The bright red national flag with a sparkling yellow star is not only a symbol of patriotism and pride, but also urges each person to strive to build our country more decent and beautiful. That image is even more meaningful, valuable and proud in the island and border areas of the Fatherland. With its special location - the border junction, for many years, officers, soldiers and people in the area have always respected the image of the flag, as a way to affirm national sovereignty. Every time preparing for Tet, celebrating major holidays, especially National Day September 2, at the border guard unit in the border area, soldiers simultaneously hang flags and perform flag-saluting activities. History pages all show that the red flag with a five-pointed yellow star first appeared in the Southern uprising in the early 40s of the 20th century. Throughout the history of resistance, building and defending the Fatherland, to this day, the red flag with a yellow star is still leading the way, encouraging confidence for the country to enter a period of renewal, reaching prosperity and happiness for all people. The proud national flag flying over the border not only affirms national sovereignty but also arouses patriotism and the spirit of solidarity among ethnic groups, together building a more decent and beautiful country as wished by President Ho Chi Minh.

In 2024, the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam" continues to be organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists on the website https://happy.vietnam.vn for all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and over.
