Army major died while saving two drowning people

Phu Yen Major Truong Hong Ky, 42 years old, working at the Military Command of Song Cau town, sacrificed his life while swimming out to sea to save two people swept away by waves, on September 1.

At around 4:30 p.m., Major Ky was on duty in the area when he discovered two people swimming at Dong Be beach, Xuan Thinh commune, being swept away by waves and struggling, so he swam out to save them.

After bringing the first person to shore, Major Ky continued to swim to save the next person, but in the big waves he became exhausted. He was rescued by local people and taken to Song Cau Town Medical Center for emergency treatment, but did not survive. The remaining victim was brought to safety.

Major Ky is the Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Song Cau Town Military Command. He has a wife and two young children, currently living in the locality. Tomorrow (September 2) is Major Ky's birthday.

The Military Region 5 Command directed the authorities to coordinate with local authorities to arrange the funeral and carry out policy work for Mr. Ky's family.
