Miner Pham Dinh Duan - Labor Hero in the Renovation Period

Pham Dinh Duan has been involved in the mining industry since 2005, when he became a miner at Vang Danh Coal. In the early days of his career, the hardships and harshness of underground work were many challenges, but with his eagerness to learn and his spirit of constant effort, Duan gradually matured. In 2014, Pham Dinh Duan was assigned the important responsibility of being the Head of the Production Team of Mining Workshop 14. Under his leadership, the production team continuously exceeded the plan by 10-15%/year, and was recognized as an "Excellent Labor Team" for many consecutive years.

Not only is he an exemplary miner, Pham Dinh Duan is also a typical nucleus in the innovation and creativity movement at the unit. He has had 11 initiatives applied in production in the period 2013-2024, bringing in a profit value of approximately 600 million VND. Notably, one of his initiatives was awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, another initiative was recognized at the Group level. Thanks to the application of Pham Dinh Duan 's improvements, the tunneling productivity at Mining Workshop 14 increased by an average of 1.3-1.5 times, ensuring efficiency and safety in mining.

Sharing about his work, Labor Hero Pham Dinh Duan confided: Working in a mine is very hard, so I always think that only a sense of responsibility and dedication to the job can help me overcome it. I always want to contribute my small efforts to help the collective grow.

At work, Mr. Duẩn is always trusted by his colleagues and highly appreciated by his superiors. Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Manager of Exploitation Workshop 14, commented: Pham Dinh Duẩn is a shining example of responsibility, daring to think and daring to do. Not only does he complete his tasks excellently, he is also a spiritual support and inspiration for the whole team.

Not only is he good at his job, Mr. Duẩn also clearly demonstrates his bravery and responsibility towards his colleagues. In 2023, when a furnace accident occurred, he bravely participated in the rescue, safely bringing two trapped workers to safety, contributing to the rapid stabilization of production.

With his tireless contributions, he has been recognized as a grassroots Emulation Fighter for many consecutive years; received many noble awards from ministries, branches and the Group. Notably, on June 4, 2025, Pham Dinh Duan was awarded the title of Hero of Labor by President Luong Cuong in Decision No. 936/QD-CTN for his outstanding achievements in creative labor, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

During more than two decades of working in the profession, Pham Dinh Duan and his colleagues have exploited hundreds of thousands of tons of "black gold" for the Fatherland. The hardships and dangers in the mines have not discouraged him, but on the contrary, have fueled his determination and passion for the profession. His title of Hero of Labor is not only a worthy reward for his dedication, but also a great source of inspiration for thousands of coal workers to continue to enhance the tradition of "Discipline and Unity" in the new era.
