Due to the preference for fair skin, sun-protective fashion and sunscreen have become popular products in China.

“Facekinis” are becoming popular in China, a form of sun protection fashion that is gaining popularity as temperatures soar, breaking previous heat records.

Facekinis are masks that cover the entire face except for the eyes and nostrils. In addition to Facekinis, sun gloves, wide-brimmed hats, and jackets made from UV-protective fabrics have become especially popular here.

In Beijing, temperatures reached a scorching 35 degrees Celsius. To combat the heat, residents and tourists had to carry hand-held fans and cover up to avoid sunburn. They even used hats and sun-protective clothing with built-in fans.

Many people believe that, in addition to protecting the skin from cancer-causing agents, fashion and sunscreen cosmetics also help users limit skin darkening, melasma and brown spots. Therefore, these products become bestsellers during hot seasons.

Wang, a hat salesman, said that compared with before the pandemic, the store's sales this year are better, and profits are expected to increase a lot.
