Regarding the suspected food poisoning case after eating chicken rice at Tram Anh restaurant (Ba Trieu street, Nha Trang) that caused 222 people to be hospitalized, the Ministry of Health requested the Khanh Hoa Department of Health to direct medical facilities in the area to actively treat patients and temporarily suspend the facility that caused this incident.

Poisoning cases after eating chicken rice at Tram Anh restaurant are being treated at Khanh Hoa General Hospital.

In addition, the Food Safety Department requested the temporary suspension of the facility suspected of causing food poisoning, and organized an investigation to determine the cause of the food poisoning incident according to regulations. At the same time, food samples and specimens were taken and promptly transferred to the nearest designated testing unit for testing, to determine the cause and publicly announce the results to promptly warn the community.

Through this incident, the representative of the Ministry of Health also emphasized the need to strengthen propaganda and guidance for food service establishments to ensure hygiene and food safety conditions, strictly manage the origin of food ingredients, three-step food inspection, store food samples and hygiene in processing stages.

Previously, according to a report from the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Health, out of 222 suspected poisoning cases, nearly 160 had to be hospitalized. The rest were examined and prescribed medication to take home. Currently, all patients have stable vital signs and are conscious.

The locality has set up an inspection team, taken samples for testing, and investigated the cause. Temporarily suspended the business operations of this restaurant.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, after inspection, the owner of the chicken rice restaurant presented a Certificate of eligibility for business and a Certificate of facility meeting food safety conditions.

However, the purchase contract and other documents related to food ingredients could not be presented. The facility did not conduct 3-step food inspection and store food samples according to regulations.

By the afternoon of March 14, nearly 100% of the patients had had their samples taken, their health was stable, and no cases had worsened. Some patients still had symptoms of nausea, fever, frequent loose stools, and intermittent abdominal pain.

The results of testing on patient samples and food samples are still pending. Therefore, the authorities have not yet determined the cause of the 222 hospitalizations.

Previously, on March 13, the Department of Health received information that many people had to be hospitalized, suspected of food poisoning due to eating chicken rice in Nha Trang City. The authorities temporarily suspended the business of Tram Anh Chicken Rice restaurant for investigation.

That same night, the representative of Tram Anh Chicken Rice restaurant apologized to the customers, proactively contacted the patients, visited the hospital to find the best solution. At the same time, they coordinated with the authorities to find the cause of the incident.
