Sophisticated tricks of a particularly large fake document ring involving 63 provinces and cities

Ha Nam Provincial Police determined that this ring had produced more than 50,000 fake documents for passengers nationwide, illegally earning 190 billion VND.

In the past few years, on social networks or even through text messages, there has been a widespread public information about selling and providing all kinds of fake diplomas, certificates, and documents. This is a serious violation of the law, causing social disturbance and is the direct cause of many other illegal acts.

Recently, the Criminal Police Department, Ha Nam Provincial Police has just finished investigating phase 1 of the case of manufacturing, trading, storing, and transporting fake seals and documents of agencies and organizations on an especially large scale that occurred in Ha Nam province and many provinces and cities across the country. From here, it also revealed the dark side of the underground market for buying, selling, and using fake documents today.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Tung, Head of the Criminal Police Department, Ha Nam Provincial Police, said: "Cheap documents and degrees cost 2 million VND, even up to tens of millions of VND such as university and master's degrees. There are degrees with transcripts. Forge documents to create a real file."

He studied at university but dropped out halfway because he wanted to earn money from other jobs. Life forced him to choose the production of fake documents and degrees as a profession to make a living. He is in charge of managing 2 fake document printing locations in Hanoi every day and has an income of about 100 million/month. The job is easy, the salary is high, but he cannot escape the law.

During an emergency search of three locations in Hanoi, the police seized hundreds of fake seals from universities, banks, state management agencies, along with university and master's degree blanks, red books, etc., and various types of printing machines and equipment.

To organize the network, the leader assigned tasks and managed 3 different groups including a group directing advertising to attract customers on social networks; a group directly producing and a group transporting and consuming to send to customers.

The investigation agency determined that within just 8 months, from April to December 2023, 67,000 people in all provinces and cities across the country bought fake documents and degrees from this group. The amount of illegal profits was up to 190 billion VND. This is considered the largest domestic production, consumption and trading network of fake documents ever to be destroyed.

Currently, the police have decided to prosecute the criminal case, temporarily detaining 14 subjects to investigate the crime of "Forgery of seals and documents of organizations". For more than 60,000 cases that have ordered goods from the subjects, Ha Nam Provincial Police have coordinated with the police investigation agencies of 62 provinces and cities nationwide to verify and investigate to clarify who ordered fake documents to use from the above group.
