The closing ceremony was held at the main span of My Thuan 2 bridge, Tan Hoa ward, Vinh Long city, Vinh Long province.
At the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the efforts of contractors and construction units who overcame difficulties to complete the bridge ahead of schedule. Although My Thuan 2 Bridge was built during a complicated pandemic, high material prices and harsh weather conditions, we are proud that this is a Vietnamese bridge, built with the country's capital, designed, constructed and supervised by domestic units, but they have completed the project well.

My Thuan 2 Bridge Project, with an investment capital of 5,000 billion VND, spanning the Tien River connecting Vinh Long and Tien Giang provinces, started construction in March 2020, with a total length of 6.61 km, invested by Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Transport). The project has a starting point connecting Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway; the end point connecting My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway. The road is for expressway vehicles, with a design speed of 100 km/h.
My 2 Bridge is part of the North-South Expressway project for the 2017-2020 period (phase 1).
In the first phase, the investment will be divided into 4 lanes, the roadbed width on the Tien Giang side will be 17 m, shifted to the right of the route similar to the Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway Project. On the Vinh Long side, the roadbed width will be 25 m, synchronous with the bridge width. The completed phase will invest in building 6 lanes, the roadbed width will be about 32 m.
The main bridge section is 1,906km long, fully invested with 6 lanes, design speed of 80km/h, with a 25m wide road surface; the main cable-stayed span is 650m long; the approach span is a Super T girder and a balanced cantilever box girder is 1,276m long.
My Thuan 2 Bridge becomes a strategic infrastructure project connecting major economic zones of the Mekong Delta region.
My Thuan 2 Bridge, parallel to the existing My Thuan Bridge, is a key project in the Southwest region. When completed, the project will complete the expressway connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho, helping to relieve and connect regional traffic and shorten travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to the core economic region of the Mekong Delta (MD) with the goal of creating a breakthrough in socio-economic, defense and security for the MD.
The My Thuan 2 Bridge project, which will be put into operation at the end of 2023, will serve the travel needs of people in the Mekong Delta. When put into use, the project will help complete the expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho, creating a complete transportation network in the Mekong Delta. The project will also help reduce traffic on the existing My Thuan Bridge and National Highway 1.

After the closing, the Ministry of Transport continues to direct Project Management Board 7, consulting units and construction contractors to promote the highest sense of responsibility, focus on completing the remaining items to open the project to traffic by the end of 2023, ensuring the quality of the project and promoting the highest investment efficiency.
In the Mekong Delta, there are 3 large-scale bridges that have received attention from the Central Government: My Thuan 2 Bridge (Tien Giang - Vinh Long), Rach Mieu Bridge (Tien Giang - Ben Tre) and Dai Ngai Bridge (Soc Trang - Tra Vinh), with a total investment of more than 18,200 billion VND.
