Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh: "Riding on the victory" to speed up the progress of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway

On July 21, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation inspected the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project passing through An Giang province. The Prime Minister directed to "continue to win", aiming to complete the project in December 2025.

Inspecting the actual construction, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that as planned, the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project phase 1, passing through An Giang province, will open to traffic in June 2026. However, with the current construction progress exceeding the plan, we must take advantage of the momentum, shorten the construction time, and strive to complete it earlier than planned.

Prime Minister visits and encourages construction workers at the site

Currently, the problem of site clearance, sand and stone materials of the province has been resolved. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the contractor to speed up the progress, increase the work "3 shifts, 4 shifts", "working during the day is not enough, take advantage of working at night", work through holidays, Tet, overcome the sun, overcome the rain, not lose to storms.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that local leaders regularly inspect and urge the acceleration of construction. At the same time, mobilize youth and women to go to the construction site to encourage workers to work enthusiastically and ensure progress.

The Prime Minister requested that all parties make efforts to speed up the progress, "take advantage of the victory", aiming to complete the project in December 2025, trying to shorten the time but ensuring quality and safe construction.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested units to be determined to put the project into operation this year, nearly 6 months earlier than planned. The head of the Government compared the construction site to a battlefield, contractors to soldiers, requiring the entire political system to participate.

The Prime Minister also requested Military Region 9, the army and the police to coordinate and be ready to take on tasks within their capabilities to speed up progress. If this expressway opens to traffic soon, it will create new development space, increase land value, connect important traffic junctions and promote the socio-economic development of the entire region.

Speed ​​up construction progress

According to the report of the An Giang Provincial Project Management Board, the total approved investment of Component 1 is 13,500 billion VND, with a total length of 57km, including 33 bridges and 42 box culverts. The project is divided into 4 main construction packages. To date, the total construction output has reached nearly 53%, exceeding the plan, striving to complete before June 30, 2026. An Giang province has disbursed 1,400 billion VND out of the total 3,450 billion VND of capital allocated in 2025, reaching more than 40%, an increase of nearly 16% compared to May 2025.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented gifts and encouraged the team of engineers and workers working at the construction site to compete and complete their tasks.
