Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu apologized to Qatar on September 29 for the attack on Doha earlier, a rare concession seen as crucial for the Gulf state to continue its key mediating role in the Gaza conflict, Xinhua reported .
The apology was made by Prime Minister Netanyahu during a three-way phone call with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and US President Donald Trump.

Prime Minister Netanyahu told his Qatari counterpart that Israel has no intention of violating the country's sovereignty again in the future, a pledge he said he also conveyed to President Trump.
“I want to assure you that Israel is targeting Hamas, not the Qataris,” he added. Prime Minister Netanyahu also supported Mr. Trump’s proposal for a trilateral mechanism with Qatar to resolve outstanding disputes.
Israeli media, including Kan TV, reported that an apology was a necessary condition for Qatar to continue its mediation efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages.
According to a statement from Qatar's Foreign Ministry, Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed regret over the incident and pledged to prevent a similar incident from happening again.

Qatari Prime Minister Al Thani strongly condemned Israel's attack on Doha on September 9, stressing that protecting Qatari citizens is an "absolute priority" and reaffirming Qatar's determination to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement from the Qatari Foreign Ministry also stressed Qatar's continued commitment to mediating an end to the conflict in Gaza.
