At the program, doctors shared a lot of important information about colorectal cancer. At the same time, they said that colorectal cancer is a common disease in both men and women, often starts silently and is easily missed in the early stages.
The meeting is a connection between doctors and patients. This is not only an opportunity to listen to medical information, but also an opportunity for patients to ask questions directly, express concerns and share their feelings during the treatment process.
Many patients and their relatives hope that the hospital will continue to organize more thematic activities, so that they have the opportunity to listen, exchange and gain more motivation in their treatment journey.
According to Globocan 2022 (a report estimating the global cancer burden published by the International Agency for Research on Cancer - IARC), colorectal cancer ranks 4th in Vietnam in terms of new cases with 16,835 cases.
Warning signs of colorectal cancer include: prolonged changes in urination habits, bloody stools, unusual abdominal pain, and unexplained rapid weight loss.
Causes and risk factors include a diet high in red meat, low in fiber, smoking, drinking alcohol, lack of exercise, age over 50; underlying medical conditions: colitis, long-term Crohn's disease, unremoved adenomatous polyps, or having a relative with colorectal cancer.
Doctors say that current colorectal cancer treatments include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted drugs and immunotherapy. If detected early, the cure rate can be up to 90%.
The message from the program is that colorectal cancer is completely preventable and can be detected early through lifestyle changes and cancer screening. Proactive health check-ups are the key to protecting yourself.
