On October 8, right after the closing ceremony of the 13th Central Executive Committee Conference, term XIII, in the face of heavy rains and floods causing serious inundation in many northern provinces, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh went to Thai Nguyen province to inspect the situation, direct the work of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, and stabilize the lives of people in flooded areas.

In Thai Nguyen province, due to the influence of storm No. 11 (Matmo), heavy rain occurred over a large area from the night of October 6 to October 7, with average rainfall of 250-400 mm, and in some places over 500 mm.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the situation in Phan Dinh Phung and Quan Trieu wards in Thai Nguyen province, which are deeply flooded, isolated and cut off, with hundreds of households having their houses flooded, suffering heavy economic damage and facing extremely difficult lives.

The Prime Minister directed Thai Nguyen province to coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security to review deeply flooded areas and landslide risk areas, proactively evacuate people to safe places, ensuring people's lives is the top priority. At the same time, by all means, access isolated areas to provide food and drinking water, absolutely not letting people go hungry or live on the ground.

In the long term, the Government agrees to invest in and upgrade the dike system and flood prevention along the Cau River to ensure sustainable safety./.
