On the evening of November 28, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented the President's decision appointing Mr. Nguyen Van Thang as Minister of Finance and Mr. Tran Hong Minh as Minister of Transport.

Also attending the meeting were Politburo members, Party Central Committee members, Deputy Prime Ministers, Government members, leaders of ministries, branches and central agencies.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated the two newly appointed Ministers; at the same time acknowledged and commended the important contributions of Comrade Ho Duc Phoc in successfully completing his duties as Minister of Finance and continuing to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the tasks of the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Transport play an important role in the overall tasks of the Government, especially in accelerating and making breakthroughs to complete tasks and targets in 2024 and 2025 and implementing major tasks to turn around the situation and change the state in the coming time.

Considering that the coming time will bring many opportunities but also many challenges, and the Government's tasks will be very heavy, the Prime Minister emphasized the viewpoint that resources come from thinking, motivation comes from innovation, and strength comes from the people.

The Prime Minister hopes that Mr. Nguyen Van Thang and Mr. Tran Hong Minh will promote their strengths and working experience, "share the same fate and hardships" with the Government to inherit and promote the valuable traditions and experiences, the great results and achievements of the Government through the periods; further promote the spirit of responsibility, solidarity and unity; once determined, they must be even more determined; once tried, they must try even harder; once made efforts, they must try even harder; once acted decisively, they must be even more decisive; once effective, they must be even more effective; respect time, intelligence and timely and decisiveness, "what is said, must be done; what is discussed, must be understood; what is done, must be done," do what is done, finish what is done, meet new requirements under the direction of General Secretary To Lam in the new era, the era of national growth, the era of wealth and prosperity, the people are increasingly well-off and happy.

The Prime Minister requested Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang and the Ministry of Finance to continue to effectively implement the focused and key expansionary fiscal policy, restructure the national financial system, save regular expenditures, concentrate on development investment and development of the capital market, financial market, and mobilize development resources; Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh and the Ministry of Transport to continue to deploy and complete important national works and projects, key to the transport sector, especially to basically complete the Long Thanh airport project in 2025, contributing to creating a stronger breakthrough in the transport sector.

The Prime Minister noted that the two Ministers and the Government should perform well the tasks of reviewing, arranging, streamlining the apparatus, reducing staff; and doing better in preventing and combating corruption, negativity, and waste.

Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang and Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh both emphasized that the newly assigned responsibility is a great honor, but also a very heavy responsibility before the Party, State and people; affirming that they will constantly strive, maintain and promote solidarity, unanimity, and make efforts with the Government to excellently complete the assigned tasks./.
