Ha Long High School for the Gifted is a bright spot, ranked among the top 10 specialized schools with the highest quality education in the country. In recent years, the school has had students winning regional and international awards. Therefore, the province has issued a separate resolution for this school. On December 9, 2021, at the regular year-end session, the Provincial People's Council passed Resolution No. 63 "Regulations on reward and support regimes in the training of excellent students and some preferential policies for Ha Long High School for the Gifted from the 2021-2022 school year to the 2025-2026 school year".
Accordingly, award-winning students and teachers who directly train them receive much higher rewards than before. Specifically: The reward for excellent students at the provincial level increased 1.7 times compared to the 2016-2020 period; excellent students at the national level increased from 3.5 to nearly 7 times; international students increased from 2.8 to 3.3 times; and international students increased from 3 to 4.5 times, the highest level in the country... This outstanding policy has become a great driving force, contributing to the effective implementation of one of the three strategic breakthroughs of the province, while affirming the province's determination in developing key education and nurturing talents for the province. As one of the outstanding students in the national Literature competition, Hoang Thanh Binh, a 12th grade Literature student (Ha Long High School for the Gifted), has constantly strived and determined to achieve proud achievements, in addition to the companionship and dedicated teaching of teachers, the attention of the school and the province. Binh shared: "The province's attention is a great source of motivation, helping us to be more confident on the upcoming journey, and at the same time have more funds to study and practice better."
From the province's major orientation, Ha Long High School for the Gifted has concretized it with practical and timely reward and support policies, becoming a driving force for teachers and students to constantly strive and affirm their position in key education. From the 2021-2022 school year to the 2024-2025 school year, the school has had 840 students winning provincial-level excellent student awards, 210 students winning national awards and 9 students achieving achievements in international and regional competitions. Implementing Resolution 63 of the Provincial People's Council, the total budget for training and fostering excellent students of the school is up to more than 17.5 billion VND.
Trong Diem Secondary School, Ha Long Ward always affirms its position as the leading flag in the key educational work of Quang Ninh province. The achievements that teachers and students of the school have achieved have contributed to furthering the tradition of studiousness, while affirming the quality of comprehensive training.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Trong Diem Secondary School's results were truly impressive with 192 students winning city-level prizes, including 11 first prizes; 82 prizes at the provincial level. Notably, at international competitions such as the Mathematics and English Olympiad (TIMO, FISO), 97 students were honored, bringing home 25 Gold Medals, 34 Silver Medals and 38 Bronze Medals. These telling numbers are proof of the dedicated companionship of teachers, the efforts of students and the attention from leaders at all levels.
The motivation for teachers and students to constantly strive also comes from Resolution 331 of the People's Council dated March 24, 2021 amending and supplementing the reward policy for award-winning students and teachers who directly train them. This policy has provided timely encouragement, as students who win awards at the provincial, national or international levels are all duly rewarded; at the same time, teachers who directly train them also receive corresponding levels of support. This is a practical recognition and encouragement, adding strength to the work of discovering and nurturing talents. Teacher Nguyen Minh Hang, Natural Science teacher, Trong Diem Secondary School said: "Resolution 331 of the Provincial People's Council has brought excitement to students and teachers because their efforts are duly recognized. This is a great source of motivation, contributing to promoting the sustainable and long-term development of the school".
The resolutions of the Provincial People's Council on education in recent times have been effective, creating motivation for teachers and students to achieve many achievements, and at the same time are a strategic step in building high-quality human resources, contributing to realizing the sustainable development goals of the province.
