Promote cultural exchange between people of the two countries

On November 25, the Embassy of India in Hanoi organized 'India Fair - Festival of Unity in Diversity' at the Embassy premises to promote cultural exchange between the Indian and Vietnamese communities, as well as to honor the friendship between the two peoples.

Attending the India Day were Mr. Phan Anh Son, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Associations; Mr. Luu Van Duc, Vice President of the Vietnam-India Parliamentary Friendship Group; the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam and his wife; Ambassadors, senior officials of Vietnamese ministries and branches, friends from friendship associations, Indian businesses, research institutes, members of diplomatic corps and the Indian and Vietnamese communities.

The event lasted just 4 hours but celebrated the different colours of India through cultural performances, culinary experiences from different regions, exhibition of garments, arts and crafts, woven carpets, grocery items displayed at the fair.

Gorgeous traditional costumes from different states of India were also on display, showcasing the spirit of “Unity in Diversity”. Guests also had the opportunity to experience traditional Indian henna painting.

The cultural show featured various forms of dance, music and yoga performed by the Indian community and Vietnamese students of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre.

The quintessence of Indian culture is also shown through short videos recorded by Vietnamese travel companies during their trips to the states of Kerala and Gujarat in recent months.

At the food festival, guests get to experience different flavors from different regions of India.

This year is also the International Year of Millet so the food festival also features different dishes that can be made from millet.

The event included the Award Ceremony for the Painting Competition on “Buddhist Architecture of India and Vietnam” held in Vinh Phuc province as part of a series of events celebrating the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence Day and 50 years of establishment of India-Vietnam diplomatic relations.

Here, 14 works in the Student category (6 to 17 years) and 11 works in the Adult category (above 22 years) out of a total of 4,258 paintings were awarded by the Embassy of India. Five paintings that won First and Second prizes were displayed at the fair.
