On the evening of February 14, the Hanoi Traffic Police Department announced that social media had just spread information that a man could interfere with the traffic light system in the Khuat Duy Tien - Thang Long Avenue area, causing public confusion. The Hanoi Traffic Police Department affirmed that this was false information with no basis.

Authorities explained that the traffic light system operated by the Hanoi Traffic Police Department is a closed system, strictly confidential. Adjusting the light cycle can only be done through the computer at the traffic control center, and cannot be interfered with by external devices.
