Thuong Coc realizes the goal of building a commune that meets New Rural standards

In the early autumn days, the road leading to Thuong Coc commune is bustling with the atmosphere of change. Interspersed among the lush green fields are well-invested inter-hamlet roads, covered with red flags with yellow stars. After merging 3 communes (Thuong Coc, Van Son, Mien Doi), Thuong Coc not only expands its development space but also has many advantages to build a commune that meets New Rural standards.

Following the commune officials, we visited La Van Cau hamlet, a model residential area since 2019. New, spacious houses, tree-lined streets and evening lighting systems have turned this place into a “livable village”. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, a prestigious person among the people, shared: “Thanks to the investment capital of the Party and the State, the rural infrastructure of Thuong Coc has changed a lot, the electricity system, roads, schools and stations have been invested, and people's lives are much better than before”.

After the merger, Thuong Coc has a particularly favorable location: The commune has National Highway 12B passing through and is associated with the revolutionary historical relic Tay Tien Monument, the famous provincial-level historical and cultural relic Khenh communal house of the locality. This is a witness to the heroic history through the periods of building and defending the country of the Thuong Coc people.

The commune has a festival of terraced fields in the Hill Region; a Green Grassland tourism plan is planned in the highest area of ​​the commune. Here, the terraced fields in the Hill Region not only feed many generations but also open up opportunities for developing eco-tourism, agricultural experiences combined with relaxation.

Along with that, Muong culture still exists through gong melodies, mo-shaped songs, and stilt house styles, creating a unique attraction. Mr. Bui Van Thiu, Than Tren hamlet affirmed: "We Muong people both preserve the cultural soul and want our children to have a full life. If tourism develops, it will both generate income and promote identity, everyone will be happy."

The 1st Congress of the Thuong Coc Commune Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, has set clear goals: Building a clean and strong political system; developing a multi-pillar economy, improving people's lives; preserving cultural values ​​associated with tourism. Specific targets are set with many breakthrough determinations: By 2030, budget revenue will reach 31 billion VND, total social investment capital will be 600 billion VND, there will be basically no poor households, 100% of children under 1 year old will be fully vaccinated, the commune will meet new rural standards.

Comrade Nguyen Quoc Tiep - Vice Chairman of Thuong Coc Commune People's Committee said: "We consider infrastructure development, administrative reform and staff building as three breakthroughs. Good infrastructure will give people the conditions to develop production; convenient administration will make businesses bold in investing; exemplary staff will make people unanimous."

After officially implementing the operation of the two-level local government, the People's Committee of Thuong Coc commune issued the Working Regulations and assigned tasks to the leaders and members of the People's Committee of the commune; proactively deployed key tasks under the leadership and direction of the Party Committee and superior agencies, focusing on ensuring stability in operations, not interrupting political tasks in the locality.

At the same time, proactively and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles, arrange facilities, invest in necessary equipment to serve the management work. Focus on directing the settlement of administrative procedures, receiving citizens, natural disaster prevention, disease prevention in livestock and poultry; deploying project programs; strengthening the direction of implementing the criteria for new rural construction, program 135, sustainable poverty reduction projects according to the 2025 plan.

Step by step stabilizing the government, Thuong Coc is also preparing basic steps: Reviewing the economic, cultural and social space to build a development plan until 2030, with a vision to 2050; promoting digital transformation; developing Hilly terraced field tourism into a typical product; restoring traditional crafts such as bamboo and rattan weaving, carpentry associated with community tourism villages.

Vice Chairman of Thuong Coc Commune People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Tiep affirmed: In the immediate future, the commune will focus on mobilizing and effectively using resources; building synchronous economic and social infrastructure; promoting investment attraction, especially strategic investors; increasing the proportion of industry, tourism and services in the economic structure, applying science and technology in sustainable agricultural development.

It can be seen that, from the initial difficulties, Thuong Coc has gradually affirmed its new vitality. With a solid foundation, a desire for change and a will to unite, the commune is facing a great opportunity to break through, becoming a bright spot in socio-economic development and preserving Muong cultural identity. More importantly, the spirit of "friendly government serving the people" is creating trust and consensus. People not only enjoy the results but also directly participate in contributing their efforts, donating land, and giving ideas to build their homeland with the goal of the commune meeting new rural standards by 2030.
