Thuy Linh had a smooth start at the Vietnam Open 2025 Badminton Tournament

VHO - Vietnam's No. 1 female tennis player - Nguyen Thuy Linh had a smooth start at the Vietnam Open 2025 when she defeated her opponent from Chinese Taipei - Liang Ting Yu in the first round of the women's singles.

On the morning of September 10 at Nguyen Du Stadium (HCMC), Thuy Linh (number 1 seed, world rank 18) entered the journey to defend the women's singles championship of Vietnam Open 2025 against opponent Liang Ting Yu (world rank 68).

Thuy Linh also encountered many difficulties on the first day of the campaign.

Despite being ranked much lower, Liang Ting Yu caused a lot of trouble for the number 1 seed.

In set 1, Liang Ting Yu started well, continuously leading. The Chinese Taipei player led 10-7 but Thuy Linh scored 5 consecutive points to lead 12-10.

Liang Ting Yu continued to equalize the score at 13-13 but Thuy Linh scored 4 more points to lead 17-14 before winning 21-15.

Set 2 went similarly. Liang Ting Yu started well to lead Thuy Linh 9-6 then 17-12.

Only then did Thuy Linh truly return to her original level. The enthusiastic cheers from the audience at Nguyen Du Stadium gave the No. 1 Vietnamese tennis player the strength to score 8 consecutive points and lead 20-17, before winning 21-19.

Defeating Liang Ting Yu 2-0 (21-15, 21-19) after 34 minutes of play, Thuy Linh entered the second round and will meet Malaysian player - Kisona Selvaduray (ranked 77th in the world).

Also on today's competition day, tennis players Vu Thi Trang and Nguyen Hai Dang will compete in the first round of women's singles and men's singles respectively.
