While traditional performing arts are mainly associated with real stage spaces, audiences can now experience "virtual" performing arts programs and interact online with artists via cyberspace...
Vietnam's soft power in the digital age
Towards 2030 - orientation to 2035, if Vietnamese performing arts want to develop, it not only needs to achieve basic digitalization but also needs to form a smart digital ecosystem, closely linking artistic creation and cultural industry. At that time, performing arts will not only be a means of preserving and spreading national cultural values but also become a creative industry, contributing significantly to economic growth, strengthening national soft power and enhancing Vietnam's position in international integration.
The year 2025 marks many important events of the country, such as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2 - sacred historical milestones of the Vietnamese people. Besides economic and political activities, cultural and artistic activities also become highlights in this period.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, many national-scale art programs took place nationwide. Notable ones include Spring Reunification, Singing with the Young City, Scarf Dance, Victory Song, Unification Day, Vietnam's Triumphant Song, Fire from the Earth, Welcome to Vietnam, Truong Son Memories...
Next, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution in 1945 and the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) became the largest series of art events ever. Programs such as: Hanoi - Forever shining Vietnamese aspiration; V Concert - Radiant Vietnam; V Fest - Brilliant youth; Fatherland in the heart; Vietnam in me concert; Special National Concert 80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness... all attracted from 25,000 to 100,000 audiences, creating brilliant music festivals, spreading patriotism and national pride.
Each program carries a unique message, but the common point is to connect and spread positive spiritual values to the public. Audiences not only enjoy magnificent "musical parties" but also directly interact with performing artists. National concerts have brought many values: Strengthening solidarity, connecting the community, affirming national spirit, promoting creativity in event organization, promoting the application of technology in promotion, creating a cultural and spiritual space with far-reaching influence. At the same time, these events contribute to bringing modern Vietnamese music and image - integrated but still imbued with identity - to the world, marking a new development step of the Vietnamese entertainment industry.
The digital age and the boost for Vietnam's entertainment industry
It can be seen that performing arts in the new era are changing strongly, both bringing creative value and being associated with the cultural industry. If in the past, performing activities mainly took place live on traditional stages, now digital technology has opened up new spaces: from 3D virtual stages to online concerts attracting millions of global audiences. Building digital databases, applying artificial intelligence in design, staging and developing online distribution platforms helps performing arts expand to the public, promising to create a sustainable source of income in the future.
The series of art programs that have just passed is an opportunity for today's generation to pay tribute to the previous generation who sacrificed their blood and bones for the cause of national liberation; at the same time, educate and raise the sense of responsibility in preserving and promoting the heroic traditions of their ancestors. From there, national pride becomes the driving force for all people to join hands to build and protect the Fatherland in the new era. National-scale performances not only bring the public the opportunity to enjoy modern sound and light achievements but also become a cultural bridge between generations.
In particular, the event is organized directly combined with online dissemination via Fanpage, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube..., thereby promoting the image of Vietnam to international friends, attracting domestic and foreign tourists, especially young people. Initial results from major music events show that music plays an important role in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, while promoting the development of supporting industries such as fashion, cuisine, and media. This is the core foundation contributing to the formation and development of the creative economy in Vietnam in the future. To make national concerts in particular, and performing arts products in general, become the spearhead of the cultural industry, it is necessary to invest in developing modern infrastructure to organize large-scale events.
At the same time, these programs must be linked with tourism, fashion, cuisine, handicrafts, and the digital content industry to build a cultural ecosystem, increase value, and diversify public experiences. It can be said that the colorful art events in 2025 are just a highlight of a new era. However, the initial results will be a boost for professional organizers and artists to create more strongly, marking an important step forward to bring the Vietnamese entertainment industry firmly into the era of integration and development.
Along with opportunities, the new context also poses challenges for state management in the field of performing arts, from copyright issues in the digital environment, preserving traditional values to the need to improve the capacity of artists themselves. Therefore, for performing arts to become a creative industry, it is necessary to urgently promote the digitization of databases, creating a foundation for digital transformation, so that this field can be stable and shine in the future.
