On the afternoon of September 4, the U.23 Vietnam team returned to the training ground to prepare for the second match of the 2026 U.23 Asian qualifiers, against U.23 Singapore at Viet Tri Stadium. After the 2-0 win over U.23 Bangladesh on the opening day on September 3, head coach Kim Sang-sik divided the team into two groups. The main players mainly performed recovery exercises, while the remaining group continued to receive additional technical and tactical training.
Before the training session, striker Nguyen Ngoc My - who opened the score in the victory against U.23 Bangladesh - shared with the press. "The match against U.23 Bangladesh was the first match I was able to start and score for U.23 Vietnam. I feel very happy and excited," Ngoc My said.

The 21-year-old striker also got emotional when talking about his family, especially the moment he scored the opening goal: "I heard that my mother cried when she saw the goal. It was a special feeling, making me even happier when I did something to make my family proud. I would like to thank my mother for always accompanying and supporting me."

The player born in 2004 also affirmed that playing for Phu Tho Club at Viet Tri Stadium gave him great confidence: "When returning to a familiar stadium, I feel much more comfortable, easily adapting to the playing space and the audience."
Ngoc My also sent a message to teammate Tran Thanh Trung - a Vietnamese-American player who could not participate in this qualifying round: "I wish Trung to continue to make efforts and try hard at the club and hope to see him again soon in the team's upcoming tournaments". Sharing about himself, the young striker modestly admitted: "I still have many things to improve, from touching the ball, moving, coordinating to finishing. The whole team has only been together for a few days, but the more we play, the more united and in sync we will be."

Ngoc My said he and his teammates will enter the match against U.23 Singapore with the highest determination: "We consider each match as a final. The whole team will try our best to achieve the best results, bringing joy to the fans."
According to the match schedule, U.23 Vietnam will face U.23 Singapore on the evening of September 6. Another victory will open the door for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team to get closer to the goal of winning a ticket to the 2026 AFC U-23 Championship finals.
